Obituary: On 14, 2015, Fr. Dn. Michael I. Koloniotis, beloved husband of 37 years to Diakonissa Karen Koloniotis, was called home and took the hand of Christ. He is also survived by his mother, Ioulia Koloniotis, Halkida, Greece, his brother, Costas (Marina), his niece, Ioulia, and his nephew, Yianni. He was born in Halkida, Greece where he served in the Hellenic Navy for two and a half years. In 1976, he moved toJacksonville in order to give his family a better life in Greece. God had a plan because the following year, he met the love of his life and the two were wed New Years Eve of 1977. Dn. Michael held several jobs over the years. However, he always had a strong desire to serve God in the Church. This led him to study at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology from 2010-2012. completing his studies, Deacon Michael was ordained to the Diaconate on 2, 2013 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in St. ine by His Eminence, Metropolitan Alexios. He continued to serve at his home parish of St. John the Divine in Jacksonville. Prior to his ordination, he was the Protopsaltis at St. John for 15 years, taught School, and served on the Parish Council. Dn. Michaels life could be summed up in one word: diakonia, the Greek word for service. He selflessly dedicated his life to his family, his Church and his Lord. The Trisagion will be held at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 3850 Atlantic Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207 on , 19 at 6:30 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will also be held at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church on , 20 at 8:30 a.m. followed immediately by the Service at 10:00 a.m. services the family invites everyone for the Makaria in the Church Hall. For those who would like to be present for the Burial Service, it will take place after the Makaria at Panagia Vlahernon Greek Orthodox Monastery, 13486 Nw Highway 225, Reddick, FL 32686. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Building Fund of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. |
