Obituary: Marian DeLong 19, 1940 to 17, 2015 Marian lost her battle with stage 4 breast cancer on 17, 2015. She survived two years longer than first diagnosed with the amazing help of her supportive son, Robert, daughter-in-law, Christina, and medical doctors. Marian was born in Steele, North Dakota in 1940; She was the youngest of eight children. Her family, soon after, moved to Waterloo, Iowa where she grew up. As a little girl she became very social as she would visit all of the neighbors regularly making conversation and continued to enjoy doing this throughout her life. She also enjoyed being with family, going to the river and being with friends. In 1963 she made her journey to California. Here she found employment at Saratoga Retirement Community, formerly known as Saratoga Odd Fellows , where she was a nurse aide. During her five year employment there she met her wonderful and loving husband, Gene Tunney DeLong. married in 1968 and had their son, Robert, in 1969. Thereafter Marian became a homemaker. She continued to enjoy conversation, reading, drawing and coloring flowers, tending to their pet cats, and for years going to church. Marian is survived by her loving son, Robert, and loving daughter-in-law, Christina. She will lay in rest now next to Gene at Oak Hill . |

Obituary: John Russell DeLong, 93, of Sparks, NV, passed away on 8, 2014. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on 14, 1921 to parents John Stewart DeLong and Anna Toms DeLong. He married Carolyn Catherine Rice on 12, 1943. lived in San Jose 53 years from 1959 to 2012. John was employed by IBM for 41.5 years, most of the time as a Field Service Representative. He and Carolyn loved to travel, and saw much of the world. went on 31 cruises plus many other ground-based tours. John was a master gardener, loved to fish and was an active genealogist. John R DeLong is survived by his loving wife and girlfriend of 71 years, Carolyn, three daughters Colleen DeLong, San Jose, CA; Mary DeLong-Nelson, Roseburg, OR; Carole Deisenroth, Sparks, NV; and one son John Michael DeLong, La Honda, CA; as well as two sisters: Lelah DeLong, Virginia Beach, VA; Esther Jones, Lancaster, CA; and two brothers: Herbert, York, PA; and Russell, Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Cook. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren: Paul Cook, Austin, TX; Greg Cook, Wasilla, AK; Lisha Corona-Phillips, Idaho City, ID; Jason Corona, Chico, CA; Amanda Deisenroth, Concord, NC; and Jonathan Deisenroth, Sparks, NV; and 7 great-grandchildren: Sabrina Cook, Korey Cook, Joshua Corona, Deiana Stewart, Colin Corona, Henry Phillips, and Emma Corona. A Rosary Vigil will be held at Willow Glen Chapel on Weds 30th at 7pm, 1039 Lincoln Ave, San Jose. A funeral mass will be held at St. Christopher Church on Thurs 31 at 9:30am. |
