Obituary: Mary Elsie Daffron Elsie Daffron went to be with the Lord on , 10, 2011 surrounded by her family and church pastor Reverend Dr. Ken Walden. Elsie was born Mary Elsie Smith on May 15, 1919 in Marian , Tennessee, and lived a life of devotion to God, her church, faith, family and friends during her 91 years. She was a longtime active member of the Lakewood First United Methodist Church for 60 years, serving as the church secretary for 30 years. Her continued dedication to the church, philanthropy, and charitable giving touched and benefitted the lives of many individuals. Elsies enduring strength of character, warmth, confidence, wisdom, graciousness and support for others will be greatly missed. Elsie was married on 10, 1942 to the love of her life Howard Daffron, who was a dashing young aviator and major in the U.S. Army Air Force. Together they traveled extensively during their 53 years together. In addition to traveling, she had a love of cooking, having recipes for any occasion. Her homemade pies and brownies were amazing! Elsie also appreciated nature and the simple joys of lifes wonders such as sunrises and sunsets. She especially enjoyed the humming birds that frequently visited her home, a home that she began together with Howard in 1951. Elsie will be missed dearly by her sisters, Abby Perkins, Minnie McCall and Charlotte Ziegler, as well as many nieces and nephews, loving family and friends. A visitation will be held on , 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Lakewood First United Methodist Church, 4300 Bellflower Blvd., Lakewood, CA 90713 (562-425-1219). services will be held at Lakewood First United Methodist Church on , 17 at 11 a.m. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress, CA 90630 (1-800-204-3131). Obituary: Don was born to Alda and John Daetweiler in Visalia, CA on 9, 1929 and passed away on , 25. moved to Lynwood/ Compton, CA when Don was two and back to the Visalia area when he was 14. He attended Visalia High School where he graduated in 1948. He then attended of the Sequoias and graduated from Fresno state with a degree in criminology. He met the love of his life Virginia Cameron at Nielsens Drive-In Restaurant in Tulare. Legend has it that he tipped her fifty cents for a ten cent Coke and she questioned his motives. Don and Ginny were married on 16, 1952 and were happily married for 60 years. Don worked for Tulare Probation and then as a California State Parole Officer/ Supervisor and State Parole Hearing Officer collectively for over forty years. Don and Virginia have 3 children: Elaine Ables of Exeter (and husband Doug Ables), Eldon Daetweiler of Fresno, and Jeff Daetweiler of Fresno; two grandchildren Eric Schwamb and Jackie Riffle (and husband Mike Riffle), two step-grandchildren Rhonda Bueno (and husband Randy Bueno), and Arlon Ables (and wife Wendy Ables), and great grandchildren Charlotte Riffle, Catherine Riffle, Caitlin Riffle, Shaye Bueno, Payton Bueno, Mya Ables, Mavryk Ables, and Mazy Ables. also have many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents Alda and John Daetweiler, parents-in-law Alice and Dewey Cameron, infant children John, Gerald, and Mary Daetweiler, and his loving wife Virginia with whom he is now happily reunited. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00pm , Feb 3 at Millers Memorial Chapel, 1120 Goshen Ave, Visalia, with rosary at 6:00pm. Service will be Feb 4 10:00am at St. Marys Catholic Church of Visalia followed immediately by graveside service at the Visalia , and then a luncheon at Miller Memorial Chapel. The family would like to thank all the dedicated medical professionals and caregivers who cared for Don during his illness. He was loved greatly and will be dearly missed. Until we meet again, Big D.
