Obituary: John A. Bivins, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on , 12, 2012 at Owensboro Medical System. He was born on May 20, 1940 in Daviess Co., KY to the late James Carl and Mary Ellen Duncan Bivins. John was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was retired from Green River Steel after 40 years of service. He loved having cookouts and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading, doing tax returns, yardwork, and going to J Ds for lunch on with his son, Derek. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William A. Bivins. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Floy Duane Bivins, two sons, Derek Bivins (Lee Ann King) of Owensboro, and Rodney Bivins (Sharron Hayes) of Owensboro, two daughters, Crystal (Jim) Howell of Fishers, IN and Robin (Scott) Merritt of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Melissa Hatfield, Julie Hill, Nathen Bivins, Kelsey Bivins, Payton Merritt, Mackenzie Merritt, Cody Bivins, and Hannelore Bivins, four great grandchildren, Delaney Hatfield, Ella Hatfield, Lily Rose Cecil, and Ava Grace Hill, and a brother, James Robert Bivins of Yelvington. She was born on 1, 1934 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late James Henry and Bertha Mae Moore Morris. She was a homemaker and member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was a blessing and joy to those who knew her and was fun to be around. She and her husband Bobby enjoyed going to flea markets and having all the family gatherings. One of her greatest pleasures in life was all the little ones she babysat for through the years, especially one special little boy she cared for for a number of years that she dearly loved, Jay Johnston of Maceo. Obituary: Marsha Lee Bivens, 62, of Owensboro, died , 29 at Fern Terra. She was born in Daviess to the late Loyd and Jean Farmer Bivens and also lived in Leitchfield for 36 years. She was a graduate of Daviess High and a 1974 graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan . Ms. Bivens was a teacher at Caneyville Elementary School in Grayson for thirty-six years and taught for four years at Cloverport Elementary School. She had attended Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Marsha enjoyed cats, reading, Star Trek, and soap operas, but most of all she loved her family and had a passion for children. Obituary: HENDERSON – Mae C. Bradley Bivens, age 96, died , 20, 2015 at Red Banks in Henderson. Born 19, 1919, at Beech Creek in Muhlenberg , KY, she was the youngest and last surviving sibling of nine children of James Pressley Bradley and Sarah Elizabeth Ashley Bradley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, L.C. Bivens, who died in 1989. She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Bivens (Sonia) of Greenville, and Harold Lloyd Bivens (Linda) of Henderson; seven grandchildren, David Bivens of California, Janet Denton of Henderson, Jeff Bivens of Evansville, Jim Bivens of Indianapolis, Jeanne Bivens of Texas, Mary Ann Warren of Florida, and Lisa Griffin of Ohio; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several step-great-grandchildren. There are also several nieces and nephews. Mae spent many years reading and studying the Bible as one of Johavahs Witnesss and encouraging others to also gain knowledge, comfort, and hope from the Bible. While living in Henderson with declining health, she has hand written more that 1,000 Bible based letters of encouragement to families in Muhlenberg who had lost a loved family member in death. It was important to Mae that people know the truth about the purpose Jehovah God and his son Christ Jesus had in creating the earth and putting man on it, and what the future holds for them. In further evidence of Maes desire to help others, in 1994, at the age of 75, a year after suffering a major heart attack, she made 200 fried apple pies from apples that she had sun dried. She did this to help feed the many volunteers that came to Henderson to help build the new Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses at 480 Klutey Park Plaza Drive. She was happy to have a part in providing a quality, attractive, brick building for worshiping and learning about her God Jehovah. It was because of many dedicated volunteers like Mae that the Kingdom Hall could be built in four days in of 1994. services will be held on , 25, 2015, at 3:00PM at Tucker in Central City, with Bro.
