Obituary: Florence J. Bivens, 88, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away on , 11, 2014, at Owensboro Regional Hospital. She was born to James Tolliver Jollay and Loga Stevens Jollay on 26, 1926 in Nuckols, Kentucky. Florence met her future husband, Raymond Bivens, after he returned home from World War II. She retired from National City Bank. In retirement, they both had many happy times playing golf and traveling. Florence was an avid golfer that was thrilled with her hole-in-ones. She enjoyed golfing with the ladies in golf tournaments around Owensboro. She belonged to the Owensboro Golf Association. She was a devoted wife and mother. She like to cook and entertain her family on holidays, read, travel, work in her yard and sing hymns around the house. Florence loved the Lord and was a member of Third Baptist Church. She was a member of the Esther School Class. She formerly taught boys and girls in School and had found memories of the sweet little children. She was a Girls Auxiliary Leader, a member of the Benevolent Committee, participated in Women on Missions, Senior Adult activities and assisted in the tabulation of the church offerings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Raymond Bivens; her siblings, William Jollay, Harold Jollay, Wilford Jollay, Lawrence Jollay, Maude Grant, Wilton Jollay, Irene Thomas, Louise Lawrence and an infant sister. Florence is survived by her daughter, Sherry Cozart; her brother, Jim Jollay; her sisters, Tina Crask and Mildred Sinnett, all of Owensboro and many nieces and nephews. Services are 1:30 p.m. on , 14, 2014, at the Chapel of James H. Davis & Crematory in Owensboro, with Dr. James Byrd officiating. Burial is in Rosehill in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on and after 12:00 noon on at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the Third Baptist Church Childrens Ministry or to Hospice of Western Kentucky. Obituary: Herman Bittman, 92, of 2701 Frederica Street, Owensboro, died , 20, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy System. He was born in Russia on 18, 1910 the son of Samuel and Jennie Raim Bittman. He immigrated in 1920 at age 10. His wife, Pauline Ida Levine Bittman, preceded him in death in 1973. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and enjoyed riding his bicycle and spending time with his family. Survivors include a son, Stanley Bittman of Owensboro; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. services are at 4:00 p.m. , 25, 2003 at Glenn Chapel, officiated by Reverend Harry Spurrier.
