Obituary: John Maio, passed away , May, 6th, 2011 in New Port Richey. John was one of six children. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May, 20th, 1924, his Mother, Natala, was a homemaker and father, Placido, retired from the U.S. Post Office. He was the last surviving of six brothers and sisters, Tony (Johns Twin), Katie, Joseph, Annie, and Leo. John went to Harron High School, and served in the Armys 305th Signal Operations Battalion. He was on active duty during WWII and fought in England, France, and Germany. He was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. During his time in the service, he continued in electrical engineering, and when he returned home, he trained at Delehanty Institute for Radio, Electronics and Television. He also trained at William Grady Trade for service and repair. 20 years of experience in television, John opened his own repair shop on Coney Island Ave., N.Y. and later, Flash TV in Port Richey. He was married twice and has 3 children: Linda who lives in Port Richey who is trained as a Phlebotomist, Joseph who lives in VA and is an Ordained Minister, and Michael who lives in Port Richey, and works in Banking. John has 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. His hobbies include gardening, model airplanes, fishing, and flying kites. His favorite quote is What goes around, comes around . Obituary: Arthur F. Mainwood, III, Major, USAR, Retired, 67, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away 20, 2015. Born 4, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of Arthur F. Mainwood, Jr., and Irene McMillan Mainwood, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Gordon Military before transferring to the Florida State University and earning undergraduate and Ed.D. degrees in counselor education and educational leadership. His career in counseling, youth services and vocational rehabilitation included positions with the Florida Departments of Education and Juvenile Justice, Wakulla High School, and Goodwill Industries. While serving 26 years in the military, he was an instructor at the Command and General Staff , Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The discipline and patriotism he learned as an Eagle Scout and in the military never left him. He had an abiding faith in God's love. Friends and family will attest that he always maintained a positive outlook and considered every day a gift to be lived to the fullest. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Paulette D. Mainwood of Tallahassee; children, Marissa P., Brian A. and Jeffrey P. Mainwood, all of Tallahassee; sister, Mary M. Mowitz (Frank), of Charlotte; two nephews, Justin M. Mowitz (Meredith) of Gainesville and Kyle A. Mowitz of Ft. Lauderdale, and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by Raegan and Gracie, his four-legged companions who brought him a great deal of joy and guarded him constantly for the past nine years. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., , 27, at Culley's MeadowWood , 700 Timberlane Road. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., , 28, at Roselawn , 843 Piedmont Drive, in Tallahassee.For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests the American Diabeties Association or Disabled American Veterans. |
