Obituary: Joseph Charles Flynn Sr. M.D. 86 of Orlando joined his loving wife Jane in heaven on , 10. He lived a long and productive life and died from complications of a happy heart. Dr. Flynn was an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Pediatric Orthopedics. He was born on 29, 1924 in Gloucester, NJ. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in World War II, landing in Normandy and marching through Europe to the completion of the war. Once home he attended and graduated LaSalle , Philadelphia in 1947 and attended Jefferson Medical graduating in 1951. He completed his internship at Orange Memorial Hospital, Orlando and returned to Jefferson Medical where he trained to become and Orthopedic Surgeon. He spent a final year at Pennsylvania State Hospital for Crippled Children which became his passion as a physician. He has practiced a unique brand of Orthopedic Surgery since 1958 and was the first Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in Orlando. He held many positions of leadership in local and national Orthopedic Societies, as well as in local hospitals. He was a wonderful and caring physician who touched the lives of thousands. In 1950, Dr. Flynn married the love of his life, Jane Bourne and together they formed a loving union for over 56 years raising and nurturing five children: Kathy Carnevale (Charlie), Patti Durfee (Tim), Joe Jr. M.D. (Jeanne), Marigrace Anderson (Chris), and John (Teresa). Together they held court over a family that has grown to include 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Dr. Flynn is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and his many, many very special friends. He was heavily involved in community service, including Florida Easter Seals, Florida Elks Hospital where he served as Medical Director and numerous Catholic Charities. Dr. Flynn was a devote Roman Catholic and has been a member of The Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando since 1967, prominently positioned in the third pew. The family is pleased to receive friends and family for a celebration of Dr. Flynns life with a viewing and Catholic prayer service on 17 at y-Hand Colonial from 6-8 PM. Services will be held at The Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Oleander Drive in Orlando on 18 at 10 AM with interment following at Greenwood , Father Brian Sheridan presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in the name of Joseph C Flynn Sr. MD, to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children where a fund will soon be set up in his name for advancement of the medical treatment of children. |

Obituary: Dr. Gerald Hilding Stenklyft, Jr. MD went to be with his Lord the morning of 19, 2009. Jerry was born in Anderson, IN to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald H Stenklyft Sr. on 14, 1959. Dr. Stenklyft is survived by his wife, Shirrie, son Gerald H Stenklyft III, daughter, Erin Stenklyft, step-daughter Kai, mother Shirley Stenklyft of Tyler, TX, brother Jay Stenklyft (Annalisa) of Tyler, TX, sister Joan Waiter of Killen, TX, sister Jean Roberts (Stan) of Auburn, IN and numerous nephews and nieces. Dr. Stenklyft was preceded in death by his father Gerald H. Stenklyft Sr., Uncle Steve Stenklyft, Aunt Marcia Phillips and her husband, Bob and Aunt Pat Dakins . Dr. Stenklyft graduated in 1984 from Louisiana State University Medical in Shreveport, LA and completed his Obstetrics residency in 1988. He was board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Stenklyft practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Jacksonville, FL for 21 years at Baptist Medical . He joined North Florida Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates, P.A. in 1999. Dr. Stenklyft served in several leadership positions for the Department of OB/GYN at Baptist including President of NF/OBGYN 2005-2007, VP and Chairman of Finance Committee 2003-2005, Chairman of the OB/GYN department at Baptist Hospital 2000-2001 and Chairman of the Adult Medical Board at Baptist Hospital 2000. Dr. Stenklyfts love of his life was his son Gerald III and daughter Erin. Packer games, fishing and hunting with Gerald and horse- back riding and barrel riding with Erin were his passions. enjoyed YMCA Indian Guides and Princess Programs together for many years. Dr. Stenklyft was loved and cherished by his wife, Shirrie. He was her knight in shining armor and best friend and made her life as rich and wonderful as anyones should be. In Dr. Stenklyfts professional career he was considered more than just a physician, he was a friend to the nursing staff at Baptist Medical downtown as well as his colleagues and staff at North Florida OBGYN. His presence and kind heart will be greatly missed. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Perry, Anthony Stenklyft, David Stenklyft, Daniel Waiter, Alex Pierce, Joe Walsh, Rick Carter and Stephen Dackiewicz. Visitation with family will be held , 22, 2009 from 5-7 PM at Hardage-Giddens , 4115 Hendricks Avenue with a rosary being said at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held 12:30PM , 23, 2009 at St Josephs Historic Catholic Church, 4124 Loretta Road, Jacksonville, FL. Obituary: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of M. Lee Toothman, DDS on Jan. 8, 2015 at Jupiter Hospice. Dr. Toothman was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on 17, 1922. Proceeded in death by his parents Glenn and Elsie Toothman and his brothers James S., Fred R, and Glenn Jr. and sister Betty Halvorsen. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley S. Toothman, and son Mark L. Toothman as well as daughters Pamela Lynn Mortensen (Rick) of Tampa Florida and Amy Seaman (Jeff) of Chicago. Grandchildren Ashley Gagne (Mike), Rees Mortensen, Caroline Mortensen, Taylor Toothman, Brendan Toothman, Lindsay Seaman, Will Seaman and Andrew Seaman, as well as great grandchildren Claire Gagne and Graham Gagne. In World War II, Dr. Toothman was a B-24 pilot in the 446th bomb group of the 8th Air Force stationed in Bungay, England. Returning from service, Dr. Toothman continued his education at Marshall University, then entered the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. Completing dental school, Dr. Toothman rejoined the Army and was deployed as a medic in a frontline field hospital during the Korean War. Dr. Toothman established his dental practice in West Palm Beach Florida in 1951, retiring in 1992. During his dental career Dr. Toothman was very active in both community and professional organizations contributing in a way that will forever leave a lasting impact. He was past President of Palm Beach Dental Society as well as past President of the Florida East Coast Dental Society. In 1965 both Dr. Toothman and Dr. John Dalton reached out to the President of Palm Beach Junior , Dr. Harold Manor, and together conceived and established the first dental hygiene program in State of Florida. Dr. Toothman was a long time member of the Pankey Study Group in Miami. Dr. Toothman was highly involved in the local Rotary Club, Kiwanis, and past president of Gideons International, and long time member of the Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach. There will be a private burial service for the family followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM on , 15, 2015 at the Royal Poinciana Chapel, 60 Cocoanut Row, Palm Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Dunklin Memorial Camp, www.Dunklin.org. |
