Obituary: Roy Busby Dowd, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully morning, Jan. 17, 2015. He was one month shy of his 94th birthday. Born to William and Dorthea Dowd in Seattle, WA on Feb. 15, 1921, Roy was the oldest of five children. He grew up and spent most of his adult life in California. In 1952, with the help of his younger brother Bill, he built his first home in Oakland, CA. serving in the US Marine Corps as a flight instructor, Roy enjoyed a successful 30-year career with Standard Oil Co. as an engineer and sales manager. In 1976, he moved to Portland, OR and started D & H Oil Co., a branded jobbership for Chevron USA. He sold that business in 1982 to pursue his passion for building, which he did until 1997, when he and his first wife, Margaret, moved to Carmel Valley. Roy was an avid golfer and master bridge player. When Margaret died in of 2000, he eventually married his bridge partner, Janet Davenport, who passed away in 2011, after their ten-year marriage and membership at Corral de Tierra CC. From the time Roy arrived on the Central Coast until very recently, he continued to enjoy all aspects of real estate - development, marketing, and sales - his clients, and most notably his colleague and friend, Kyle Morrison. Roy is survived by his son, Steven Dowd, his daughter, Carolyn Ybarra, his three granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. Along with the love and admiration of his family and friends, Roy will be remembered for his gentle spirit, engaging smile, eternal optimism, and can-do approach to all things. A private service will be held in his memory during the second week of , 2015. |

Obituary: Milton Leroy Dowd a courageous battle against cancer, Milton Leroy Dowd passed away at the age of 55 on 10, 2010 at his home in Hoopa surrounded by loved ones. He was born 15, 1955 in Hoopa. He was preceded in death by his parents George Milton Dowd, Agnes Mildred Dowd and brother Roger Lyle Dowd. Although he had no children of his own, he was the father figure of many children throughout the years. Miltie was a compassionate, patient and loving person; devoted to his family, and loyal to his friends. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of those whose lives he touched and mentored as "Uncle Milt". Miltie was the beloved brother of Gloria and Philip Vigil, Marjorie Jones and Gaylord Dowd, and the loving uncle to Danette and Inmar Munir, Christie Vigil and children Kara, Philip and Dowdie, Fawnee and Benny Helms and children Shy, Summer, Kethnu and Selaya, Koe-Soes Vigil, Kessie and Mike Masten and children Ashley, Ms, Meka, JoJo, and Koby; Floyd and Delilah Jones and children Sadie, Priscilla, Little Floyd, and Everett Tina and Morgan Grass and children Sequoyah and Ma-phe, and niece Michelle Jones; and special friend Geneva Donahue. The wake will be held at the family home on 15 with the services on at 11:00 at the Neighborhood Facility.
