Obituary: Coach Charles Edwin Presley, 84, passed away 25, 2017. He was born 1, 1932 in Fort Smith to Edwin West Presley and Ada Mae OBryan Presley. Charles was educated in Fort Smith public schools, attending Belle Point, Fort Smith Junior High and graduating from Fort Smith High School in 1951, where he was a three sport letterman; lettering in football, achieving All-State in 1950; lettering in basketball and winning a state championship in 1951; and lettering in track as a long jumper. Coach received a football scholarship from Arkansas Tech University, where he was a four year letterman and winning an AIC Championship in 1954. Charles received his B. S. degree from Tech in 1955 and his M. S. from the U of A in 1961. In 1955, he married Gay Young, whom preceded him in death in 2016, after 61 years of marriage. His coaching career included: one year at Charleston High School, three years at Darby Junior High in Fort Smith and thirteen years at Northside High School, winning a State Track Championship in 1967 and a State Football Championship in 1971. Coach was a member of First Baptist Church and lived his life; putting Christ and The Church first; family and friends second; school and job, third; and sports, fourth. He is survived by one son, Eddie Presley of Fort Smith; one daughter, Melanie Hobson of Rogers, AR; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be , from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Edwards . Service will be 11:00 AM , 28, 2017, in Edwards Chapel with burial in Roselawn . Pallbearers will be: Dr. Tommy Cheyne, Bennie Westphall, Rex Chronister, Johnny Alford, Tim Smith, Billy Joe Releford, Roger Carter, Art and Steve Capehart. Obituary: James W. Preskitt, 88, of Ashdown, Arkansas passed away , 6th, 2014 at his home. He was born 16th, 1926 in Kerrville, Texas to George W. and Maude L. Christopher Preskitt. Mr. Preskitt retired in 1990 from Rockwell International and moved to Ashdown. He led a long, enduring life that was full of adventure. He loved growing flowers, raising animals, and painting; but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He kept himself active in the community substitute teaching, and staying active as a Scottish Rite Mason. During WWII he served our country in the United States Navy, working in the infirmary. He never met a stranger, and will be dearly missed by many. Cherishing his memory are his wife, Rosa Lee Preskitt; three children, David B. Preskitt (Mona) of Dallas, Texas, Ted W. Preskitt (Brenda) of Ashdown, Arkansas, and Jan Pickens (Scott) of Richardson, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on , 10th, 2014 at Tom in Tom, Oklahoma with Jerry Galloway officiating under the direction of Gross . Obituary: Norma Jean Hartsfield Prescott, 83, of Fort Smith, formerly of Caddo Gap, Arkansas, passed from this life 19, 2016 in Fort Smith, She was born 6, 1932, in Excelsior, Arkansas, to the late Frank and Rosie Ray Hartsfield. Norma had worked at Baldor Electric in Fort Smith and Pyler Hardware in Glenwood, Arkansas. She lived, for many years, and raised her family in Bonanza, before moving to Fort Smith. Norma was a member of Word of Faith Church in Amity, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Charles Prescott; five sons, Donald Dunkerson of Pasadena, Maryland, Wayne Dunkerson and his wife Judy of Hackett, Arkansas, Edward Dunkerson and his wife Beth of Fort Smith, Charles Prescott of Barling, Arkansas and Steve Prescott and his wife Linda of Barling, Arkansas; her daughter, Deloris Griffith of Fort Smith; 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
