Obituary: Gary Irwin Munsey, 78, passed away on , 21, 2016, at Mercy Medical in Redding, California, with his family by his side. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Mercy Medical . were supportive to the family during this difficult time. A special thank you from the family to Mark and Michelle Cicanco, Dave Flohr, Bob Nidever and countless others for their unwavering support. Gary also leaves behind his childhood and lifelong friend, Stephen Kobayashi, and Ron Anderson. Gary was born 19, 1938, in Burlington, Colorado, to the late Feryll and Ruth Munsey and moved to California in 1940 at the age of two. He was the eldest of four brothers, Lary (passed in 2007), Dennis and Kenneth. Gary graduated from Gardena High School and went on to graduate from Humboldt State (later Humboldt State University) where he met Dolores and graduated in 1960. He and Dolores were married in 1962 in Oakhurst, California. While in Oakhurst, he was in the United States Army Reserves from 1961 to 1967. Gary was a registered Professional Forester for the State of California and a member of the Society of American Foresters. He worked for the United States Forest Service for 34 years before retiring in 1994. He worked all over California, from Bass Lake (Sierra National Forest), Redwood Ranger Station (Six Rivers National Forest), Gasquet (Six Rivers National Forest), Ukonom (Klamath National Forest), Santa Barbara (Los Padres National Forest), and then Redding (Shasta-Trinity National Forest) in 1977 until his retirement in 1994. His jobs ranged from seasonal such as timber cruising and firefighting to District Ranger and finally finished as a Personnel Officer for the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. his retirement, he was proud to serve on the Shasta Grand Jury in Redding, CA, from 1995 to 1996. He enjoyed breakfasts with "Save the Baby Tree League" every , spending time with his family and his pets, fishing, golfing, reading, watching sports, doing cross-words and playing card games. He enjoyed traveling to the Wahl Ranch in Fishtail, Montana, and visiting family, especially his brother-in-law, Jim Azevedo, in Arcata, California. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Munsey, of 54 years; his brothers and sister-in-laws Dennis and Kris Munsey and Kenneth and Debbie Munsey both of Temecula, California; his sons and daughter in-laws, James and Kristin Munsey of Alta Loma, California, and John and Shannon Munsey of Elk Grove, California; and his four grandsons, Eric (19), William (17), Ryan (16) and Cole (15). Gary also leaves nieces and nephews from Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and California. A memorial service will be held at McDonald's Chapel 1275 Continental Street in Redding, California on 10th at 11am. Gary will be interned at Greenwood in Arcata, California. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to have donations sent to the non-profit organization Wildland Firefighter Foundation. Wildland firefighters are highly trained men and women, younger and older who love being in the outdoors. While putting themselves in harms way, their families do not receive any benefits after a fatality for up to 3 months. Obituary: Barbara Jeannie Munsey (10/17/1946 - 10/25/2015) headed home to the Lord on 25th surrounded by love from family and the thoughts and prayers of many. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma and friend whose positive attitude and shining spirit touched many lives. Jeannie was a courageous woman who never had a bad day and always focused on the positive. She had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. Much of her life was spent celebrating all that God had blessed her with. Jeannie loved her family with all her heart and this love was surpassed only by her love for Jesus Christ. Jeannie was born in Madera, but grew up in Bakersfield. She spent most of her adult life in Visalia raising her two daughters. raising her daughters she met and married Gary Munsey where they enjoyed time with family and traveling in their RV. While the last few years were a challenge she always knew Gods love for her and continued to thank him for her wonderful life. Jeannie is survived by her loving husband Gary Munsey, daughters Kelli Larson & Kim Ferguson, son in-law Mark Ferguson, grandchildren Dylan, Paige, Hayley & Wyatt. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers in-law Carolyn & Roger Mueller and Sharon & Jim Waters, step-family Tami Munsey, Tim Munsey and their families plus many nieces, nephew, aunt, cousins, friends and her beloved service dog Brooser. Obituary: William George Munselle (67), known to everyone as Guy, greeted everyone he met by saying, How the hell are you?, quietly passed away 4, 2016, at his home in Palm Desert after a 3 ½ year bout with cancer. Guy had a fantastic smile and enjoyed life, loved to laugh, always had a story to tell and was on his way to becoming an accomplished pool player. Guy was an avid golfer and was an excellent target shooter. He especially enjoyed golf with his buddies, Brolls Boys at Indian Ridge CC. His friends were always referred to as Dude until he created his own name for them, otherwise known as a Guyism. He loved his Diet Coke and Fox News but hated it if anyone touched his coffee maker. His way was the only way to make the coffee. Guy was born in Los Angeles, CA, raised in Orange , graduated Rancho Los Alamitos High School in Garden Grove and earned his BS in accounting at Cal State Northridge in 1974. He then moved to Dallas, TX to work for Arthur Anderson & Co. but he missed California so moved back to LA where he worked in key financial positions for several companies including J.W. Robinsons Department Store, Spring Aire Manufacturing and Howard Shultz & Associates. He met his wife Terri at Robinsons. dating for 3 weeks they got engaged and, to the amusement of their friends, went on to be happily married for 33 years. In 1998, Guy and Terri became real estate agents in the desert and developed a flourishing business making many great friends along the way, Guy was always appreciated for his quick wit and for being a loyal and honest friend. Because he was a devoted animal lover, their home always had an assortment of dogs underfoot and around the house. Guy learned about his illness in 2012, but maintained a positive spirit even as he retreated from the real estate world in order to make his surgeries and treatments his full time job. He never once complained as he organized his tedious medical schedule to maximize time to travel and truly live the time he had left. Guy loved to travel, anywhere and everywhere. He especially loved London and Prague, and cruises to harder-to-find places like Greenland. Guy was preceded in death by his parents George and Henriette Munselle. Survivors include his wife Terri Munselle of Palm Desert, son Guy Jr. of Corona, brother Ted Munselle (Gaye) of Richardson, TX and sister Denise Munselle Barnes (Ronnie) of Burleson, TX. Special thanks go to Guys caring team who helped him have extra time with us: Dr. Davood Vafai and nurse Lynne Malestic, Dr. Robert Johnson and nurse Dixie and Dr. Farhad Limonati. In addition, he received great care for more than 3 months from Visiting Angels: JR, Melvin, Salvador and Roberto. A private memorial service will be held in in Newport Beach, CA.
