Obituary: Mark E Miesfeld Mark E Miesfeld was born 2, 1951, in Washington D.C. to Dr. Roger Randolph Miesfeld and Patricia Miesfeld. He was the oldest of four children. He grew up in San Diego, California graduating from Kearney High School. Mark was an exceptional student and strong football player in High School. Mark was a brilliant but humble man and although he was a National Merit Scholar he chose to work with his hands in the construction industry. He was injured on the job after falling three stories down an elevator shaft. He broke his back and doctors told him he would not be able to walk again. Mark’s incredible strength and determination proved the doctors wrong and he ran numerous 10K races in heavy work boots with metal pins in his body. Mark refocused his talents and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson majoring in Computer Science. He worked for several software companies including IBM and CISCO, eventually working for Applied Micro Circuits Corporation for 12 years as a Senior Software Engineer and writing embedded software. In his spare time he volunteered his talents to an international computer development team with professionals from all over the world. He spent 7 years leading Software Test Automation. He worked extensively on development teams for device drivers for this organization. Although Mark did not have any children of his own, he loved children and helped raise his nieces and nephews. He resided with his brother Bart and his family for almost 20 years. He was a second father to Cienna, Vail and Berk, present at each of their births and every monumental event. He and his dog, Conrad, were regulars at Pony League baseball and Pop Warner football. Mark loved the outdoors. He spent every vacation for years hiking in the Trinity Alps. He enjoyed the peace and quiet that nature provided. He treasured simplistic pleasures. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. He was a brilliant but humble and simple man. He was incredibly strong both physically and mentally. He was extremely dedicated to family and would do anything for family members. He passed on , 7, 2014, at the age of 63 in San Diego, California after suffering a severe stroke. He is survived by his mother Patricia Girardi of La Jolla, California; his siblings,; Greta Etnyre of Houston, Texas; Roger Miesfeld of Tucson, Arizona; and Bart Miesfeld of La Jolla, California, as well as nieces and nephews Brad Etnyre, Nicole Miesfeld, Noelle Miesfeld, Barrett Miesfeld, Cienna Miesfeld, Vail Miesfeld and Berkeley Miesfeld. A private celebration of his life will be held in the Trinity Alps with family members. Online condolences can be left on the Pacific Beach Chapel website. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org/index.
