Obituary: David was born in Beaconsfield, England to Walter and Isobel Mayne. The Mayne family moved to Nottingham where David was raised with his younger brother, Brian. In 1952, David and Vera were married and settled back in Buckinghamshire, England. David attended London University and graduated in 1955 with a B. Sc. in Physics. Soon after he graduated he was selected to be the project manager of a team to design the cosmic ray measuring instruments to analyze cosmic rays on Britains first satellite, ARIEL I. Their work was published and presented at the Radio Techniques & Space Research Convention in 1961 that won them the Lord Rutherford Award. In 1962 David & Vera, and their 2-year-old daughter, Sally Anne, immigrated to the USA. landed in Southern California, as David wanted to be where the action was in the newly emerging space and computer industries. The family settled in Woodland Hills, where Richard was born in 1964, and then moved to Malibu, where Michael joined them in 1966. In 1969 the family moved to San Juan Capistrano in Orange where they lived for 24 years, raising the children around horses, dogs, and other animals and spending their holidays sailing, and skiing at Lake Tahoe and then Lake Arrowhead where they had vacation homes. David first worked at AMPEX, and then moved to Pertec, where he met Bob Kleist, and in 1974, along with several others, co-founded Printronix, who manufacture industrial grade enterprise printers. David retired from Printronix in 1986 but remained active as a consultant in several other computer related companies such as EnCad. In 1972 David was proud to become an underwriting member of Lloyds of London. David always wanted to live next to the ocean, and in 1979 he discovered the perfect lot for sale in Carmel Highlands, and after much wrangling with the coastal commission, and the water moratorium was lifted, he finally broke ground in 1993 and he and Vera moved into their dream home the next year. Here they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren Jonathan & Rebecca. David was a volunteer on the board of Carmel Riviera Mutual Water , which supplies his local community with water. Within a short time, David became chairman of the board, and under his leadership the company was rebuilt after everything was destroyed in the winter storms of 1998. He continued serving on the Board until his death. Vera passed away in 2004, David enjoyed spending time with his two new grandchildren Evyn & Izzac. In 2012 David moved to Park Lane where he gained many more friends that loved life as much as he did. He jokingly called Park Lane his land based cruise ship. David was a Renaissance man who had many loves and interests, including anything scientific, astronomy, photography, traveling, wine tasting, and going to the Opera. David would love to talk with interesting people from anywhere or from any field. David was also very dedicated to his family, always making sure they had what they needed. David loved to travel, and with Vera travelled the world, and cruised the oceans. Davids brother Brian, daughter Sally Anne Smith, her husband Clive and their daughter Rebecca, his son Michael and wife Melinda and their children Evyn and Izzac, and Richards son Jonathan survive David. His wife Vera of 51 years, and his son Richard who lost his battle with Juvenile Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis in 2010 predeceased David. Davids Celebration of Life will be 8th, 2015 |

Obituary: Our beautiful, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Charleen Ruth Mayne, age 69, passed away peacefully at a hospital in Modesto, California on , 13, 2012 due to injuries sustained from a fall a few days earlier. During her final days many loving family members surrounded her. A friend said The sun is a little dimmer today because Charleen passed and we couldn agree more. Charleen was born in Huntington Park, California on 25, 1943 to Ruth and Charles Wilson. The oldest of 3 daughters, Charleen was the original California Girl. Charleen attended Fullerton High School during which she was head Yell Leader and the Pow Wow Queen of 1961. Upon graduation from high school, Charleen attended Brigham Young University; Provo, Utah where she met David Ray Mayne and was later married in the Salt Lake Temple. Charleen is the mother of six children, David Jr. (Naomi), Matthew (Michelle), Jason (Ginni), Charee Thorn (Jeffery), Jonathan (MarKey) and Mitchell (Holly). Charleens life has been made complete with 17 grandchildren. The family dinners where we shared stories about mom have brought much laughter to our lives. Family gatherings were always fun with Charleen because they involved laughter and great food. Charleen was beautiful, optimistic and fun loving. She had experienced many of lifes challenges but her perspective was always positive. Family and friends were her source of happiness and fulfillment. A friend said Charleen saw the real humor in the little things in life, so she could make any of us smile and even laugh through our tears as well as during the happy moments. You can see it every day in the lives that she touched. Her testimony and faith helped her through lifes struggles and her relationship with her Savior helped her find happiness to overcome those challenges. Charleen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm foundation of the gospel and was proud of her pioneer heritage. She was privileged to serve in many capacities from Primary President, to Seminary teacher. Many of those whom she served have fond memories and a great love for Charleen. Charleen was a loving, kind mother who spent endless hours supporting her children in all their endeavors. Her most important accomplishment in life was being a mother and grandmother. Growing up in the Mayne household could be described as Grand Central station with Charleen organizing and making sure each child was at their practice or game. She attended everything she could that her kids were involved in. She not only attended, but also cheered louder than any other parent. As a grandmother, she could frequently be found on the sidelines or in the audience supporting a grandchild. Charleen loved to serve; whether it was at home, church or in the community, she liked to get involved. One of her most recent interests was in the Mitt Romney campaign. Charleen was passionate about being involved in her local community. She set the example for her children and grandchildren to get involved and that no one is too small to make a difference. Charleen had an artistic flair and she used her talents to establish a successful catering company for several years before health issues forced her retirement. Special thanks to the wonderful hospital staff at Dr. Hospital in Modesto CA for their kindness and care during her last days. Charleen was one of a kind – there is no other like her. Her personality was infectious – she made you smile. We know that we will see her again. We are grateful to have her in our lives and the legacy of love and happiness she left for us. Preceded in death by her parents. Survived by all of her children and their spouses, grandchildren, sisters Pam Reese and Jill Youkel, Stepfather Ralph Michael. Obituary: Longtime Lake Almanor Peninsula resident Frank Edward Maynarich, Jr. passed from this life peacefully at his home morning 7, 2014 at the age of 85. Born 29, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank Sr. and Mary Maynarich as a young child he and his family relocated to Arizona and later settled in Los Angeles where Frank graduated from Hamilton High School as a member of the Class of 1947. Shortly following his high school graduation Frank entered the military and served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Culver City and later settled in Chatsworth, CA. On 4, 1951 in Yuma, Arizona Frank married the love of his life Martha Abrams and to this union two sons were born. a short time with Coke a Cola Frank went to work for the Schlitz Brewery where he retired as one of their Brew masters after thirty years with the company. Following his retirement he and Martha moved to Lake Almanor in 1985, an area they had vacationed at for years prior. Frank then began a second career working for the Lake Almanor Country Club as a maintenance man retiring from them in 2000. Frank enjoyed the outdoors fishing and hunting and traveling with his late wife. In passing Frank leaves his two sons; David of San Diego, CA and Charlie of Canoga Park, CA, he was the proud grandparent of Misty, Josh and Heath along with his great grandchildren Starr and Samy. Frank is also survived by a sister; Cressie Renaldi. He will be greatly missed by all especially his companions Suzie and Sally. Along with his parents Frank joins his two sister Maryann and Dorothy in their eternal home. Services are being planned for a later date. Inurnment will take place in the military section of the Westwood .
