Obituary: Thomas Patrick Myers, born 2, 1951, passed away at Avante Skilled and Rehabilitation on 5, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, Grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Myers; their children Thomas Myers, Jr., Denise Myers, Donna Fowler, Eric Finch, Thereasa Baughman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Obituary: Thomas Myers 87, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family members, on 2, 2015. Born in Pennsylvania, Tom served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He settled in Pensacola and began his career as an electrical engineer at the Naval Air Rework Facility. Tom was an avid golfer and a highly accomplished home builder, wood craftsman and expert electrician. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife Kathrine Myers and brothers Jim, Bill, and Sam. He is survived by his wife Anita Brown Myers, son David, daughter Jo Lynn, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were held at the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on 6, 2015. Interment was in Bayview Memorial Park. In Toms honor, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Obituary: Thomas Ward Myers, Jr, 72, passed away peacefully on 8, 2015 in Jacksonville Florida. Better known as Tommy he grew up in the Neptune Beach area with his family and eventually lived all over the state but making south Florida his home. He had many different businesses and enjoyed the interaction with people. His lavish stories will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his three children Teri Diemer, Jennifer Redman and Brady Myers as well as step children Richard, Randy, Ronald, Craig, and Mark Sebald, children by marriage to his beloved wife Sally Sebald, whom he has joined in heaven this week. Obituary: Tommy was born in 1975, severely mentally challenged with Down Syndrome and pulmonary valve stenosis. His parents decided against placing him in an institution after discussing options with doctors. Expecting to live only to his teen years, Tommy surpassed all odds. Each year beyond provided more and more of a blessing. Growing up, Tommy was a very lovable child, who always smiled, and provided happiness to everyone. He was mute, and communicated through basic sign language. Tommy was very well organized, and was stubborn about things being put in their proper place. Tommy was able to attend school through age 21. He thrived at school, learning how to complete basic daily tasks while being around other kids like him. Tommy loved to ride the yellow school bus and looked forward to seeing it come down the street each day to pick him up. One day when his mom came to visit Tommy at school for a meeting with the teacher, she saw how much Tommy was able to do at school and was much more independent then at home, so he got busted. graduation, Tommy started staying with his grandmother during the day. The bond between them was so strong it was amazing to see how he would be with her. loved each other and needed each other. He also enjoyed spending a lot of time with his Aunt Dorothy. Tommy enjoyed swimming. He learned to swim at an early age, but it was his dad who made it possible for him to swim without floater support and this was something they enjoyed to do on a daily basis. Music was always very important to Tommy. As a young child, Tommy would rock back and forth to songs he loved. He would often hand his mom the tape of one of his favorite songs because he wanted to hear it again. One of his favorites was the musical “Tommy.” It was as if some of the songs were written for him. He also enjoyed pop and rock songs and had a few songs that were special between him and one other family member. He didn’t just like listening to music, but tried to play music too. Once, while near a drum set at Disney World, he began beating out a rhythm. So, he got a drum set the following Christmas and he enjoyed making his own music. As an adult, Tommy enjoyed being social with family and friends. He had fun going to football parties and occasionally attending baseball games. He liked going to movies and to restaurants and he really enjoyed beer. Tommy also liked riding in fast cars. When his brother, Mike used to pick him up from school, every time he saw the Dotsun 240Z, his face lit up. At age 25 he learned how to dance. He and his sister spent several months practicing and at her wedding, they had the entire dance floor to themselves as Tommy showed off his moves. He then spent the rest of the night dancing with several pretty ladies. Tommy enjoyed going on lots of trips with his parents to visit family in other states. Whenever he saw his travel bag was packed, he knew he was going to do something fun. He often visited San Diego to see his sister Debbie and her husband Greg. He always enjoyed the fun things they had planned for him. He especially loved getting to spend time with his niece, Gina, and his nephew, Alex. He love them very much and enjoyed very special games and other fun times with them. Tommy was an amazing, loving uncle and was incredibly special to them. Tommy was loved by everyone who met him, even strangers recognized his radiance, and would say, “Hi” to him. All his family members were truly blessed for God giving him to us, and we are so grateful for having him. Tommy has a special place in Heaven, as we know he was without sin. We will all miss him forever. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Tommy's name to the American Heart Association (heart.org) or The National Down Syndrome Society (tinyurl.com/tommymyers).
