Obituary: STUART, Fla. - Suanne (Suzy) Elizabeth McLaughlin, 75, loving wife of Robert (Bob) Phillip Mayer entered into rest 13, 2015, at her home. Daughter of late parents Harry Gibbs Munro and Virginia Caroline Schaefer, Suzy spent her childhood years in New York, until the Munros relocated to the pristine beach town of Jensen Beach, quintessential Old Florida in 1962. The Munros established, owned and operated Jensen Beach Aluminum, which is still operating today under different owners on US-1 in Jensen Beach. Suzy often reminisced about the good ol' days - dirt roads, pineapples farms, the early film industry (Burt Reynolds) and spending time with the likes of Frances Langford. She disliked all the growth and construction along the waterways and was never afraid to tell the county commissioners at a meeting or write a letter to the editor. Suzy loved travelling, the theatre, and Disney World. In , she and Bob cruised to Colombia where she dressed up as Maleficent and modeled in the ship's fashion show. Suzy was passionate about the theatre and politics. She loved going to the movies (extra butter, please!), performed in several shows at the Barn Theatre in Stuart, including Butterflies are Free where she met her late husband, Richard McLaughlin and lifelong friends. Bringing each of her grandchildren to Disney World was imperative, so she could share and witness all the joy, wonder, and happiness. Suzy was also active with the Martin Democratic Club and frequently volunteered at polling sites during elections. But Suzy was most passionate about her family. Nothing gave her greater joy than the love she shared with her husband, Bob, five children (Harry Michael Pantzer, Lisa Anne Pantzer, Christine Marie Pantzer Peters, Jeffrey Robert Pantzer, and Eileen Elizabeth Pantzer Dees), eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and all the friends and extended family who loved her and called her Wife, Mom, Nana, Best Friend. Everyone could find a true friend and great comfort with Suzy. She spent her last hours doing exactly what she loved - going to the movies with her grandchildren, Christmas shopping, wrapping presents, laying out ingredients for baking cookies and transforming the house into a Christmas wonderland - making other people happy and taking care of everybody else, because that's who she was. She was the best, the strongest and of course the coolest - ever. There are no words that can describe the depth of her love or how much she will be missed. We can all find comfort in the words of her six-year-old grandson, "She's not gone. That's just her body. She's all around us and she always will be." |
