Obituary: Joseph Elkanah McKenzie(affectionately known as Jay), was born on 19, 1923 in the parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, WI and he passed at his home on 10, 2017 at the age of 93. He was the third oldest of eight children born to Zephaniah and Florence McKenzie. Jay served in the Royal Air Force from /1944 until /1946. He had hoped to travel to England during his time in the British military, but contracted the mumps before he was deployed and was unable to travel. In 1950, Jay immigrated to the United States where he met the love of his life, Dolores Mair, thanks to the matchmaking efforts of his sister Janet. were married on 4, 1953 in Mount Vernon, New York. He would often joke about this date, saying endearingly that he lost his independence on Independence Day. have been married for an amazing 63 years. During Jays first years in the US he took advantage of educational opportunities in salesmanship that lead him to a position with the Electrolux Corporation where he excelled, earning him and his new wife a trip to be recognized at the 1955 Electrolux Spotlight On Success Convention at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. He later became a salesman for the New York Life Insurance for 10 years, where he often was one of the top sellers attending several conventions. Jay furthered his education in urban renewal, real estate appraising and mortgage financing and became a licensed real estate broker. He ran his own real estate business in Brooklyn, New York for over 20 years. Moving to Florida in 1982 enabled Jay to enjoy some of his greatest passions: gardening and playing dominoes. He has amazed many with his agricultural skills and his lifelong love of the game of dominoes. He would never pass up the opportunity to give his opponents and egg and get a six love! Jay touched others with his love for the Lord. Whenever he was called upon to counsel or console, he humbly turned to the holy scriptures for guidance. As a gifted public speaker, he entertained and encouraged at various gatherings. Jay leaves to celebrate his life and carry on his legacy: his wife, Dolores, four daughters, Carol, Diane, Joan, Marie, son-in-laws George and Sam, brother, Cecil, sisters, Ruby, Joyce and Lucille, nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Christine, Karyn, Kayce, Eric, Ethan, Paul, Jonathan, Philip, good friend and domino partner ( P), Douglas and a multitude of relatives and friends. The family appreciates and thanks all who have helped to make this celebration possible and Jays passing easier to bear. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to First Church of Coral Springs. |

Obituary: John A. McKenzie, 88 of Homosassa, FL died , Feb. 22, 2011 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical in Crystal River. Born Aug. 29, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late George and Lillian McKenzie. He moved to Homosassa 5 years ago from Port St Lucie, FL. John retired after 35 years of service as Dept. Manager for the General Service Administration. He was a Army Air Corps veteran of WWI, member of St Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and the Homosassa Lions Auxiliary Club. Preceded in death by his wife Patricia Mary McKenzie. Survived by his sons James J. McKenzie of Port St Lucie and John P. Obituary: James J. Jim McKenzie, 66, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away unexpectedly on 16, 2014, at Lawnwood Regional Medical . Jim was born in Laconia, NH, and became a resident of Port St. Lucie in the early 1990s. serving our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Jim went on to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and achieved tremendous success. He is most widely known for his Labor Finders franchises and most recently as the Executive Director of the St. Lucie Education Foundation. As Jims career progressed, he became an integral member of the Treasure Coast community. He was a man filled with a love of life, generous spirit and a passion to improve the lives of those around him. Jims philanthropy was delivered in many ways; from monetary donations, to one-on-one mentoring, and to giving an unmeasurable amount of his time in advisory roles to the countless number of boards and committees on which he served. He was a man with the biggest heart and he enjoyed sharing it with his family. Jim was as loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who enriched so many lives. Our community has suffered a tremendous loss in Jim McKenzies passing. The void he leaves behind will not easily be filled. Survivors include his wife Maria McKenzie of Port St. Lucie, FL; one daughter McKenzie-McPherson and one granddaughter McKenzie McPherson of Lancaster, PA; stepdaughter Tiffany Block of Tampa, FL; stepson Brandon Block of Port St. Lucie, FL; one sister, Helen Dowd, of St. Petersburg, FL; and one brother, John McKenzie.
