Obituary: Raymond Maloney, 89, of Tallahassee, Fl. passed away on , Nov. 30, 2014. Born in Key West, FL on Nov. 26, 1925 he was a fifth generation Key West Conch. Raymond lived in Key West until 1997, when he moved to Cairo Georgia, and then Tallahassee in 2004. As a teenager living in Key West he fell in love with the ocean and built his first sailboat at the age of 13. At age 17 he quit high school to join the Coast Guard and was a veteran of World War II being discharged he married his sweetheart Betty and began apprentice training as a civil service machinist for the U.S. Navy. Soon after learning his trade he decided to pursue his passion going into the boat business opening Key West Outboard Sales and Service as a proud Evinrude dealer. In 1946 he started boat racing and was a charter member of the Key West Outboard Club. His passion for boat racing has carried on through his sons and grandson to today. During the 50's and 60's he and Betty owned Maloney's Trailer Park and Maloney's Outboard Service on Stock Island. In the mid 60's he was recruited for an officer with the then Florida Board of Conservation today known as the Florida Marine Patrol. This work lead him into his interest in aquaculture where he then transferred into the Research Dept. In the late 60's moving to the private sector where he received a patent for rearing marine crustaceans from the egg. He often served as a resource for academics and had offers to move to different parts of the world. This work took him to Islamorada FL where he was in charge of shrimp culture. In 1974 after the birth of his granddaughter he and Betty moved back to Key West where he worked as a machinist for Key West Hand Print Fabrics until retirement. For the last 15 years he has enjoyed restoring and showing antique outboard motors, winning many awards. He was a proud American. Survivors include sons, Steve (Janis) Maloney of Tallahassee, FL. and Ray (Yolanda) Maloney of Key West, FL; grandchildren Jennifer Grandal and Brian Maloney and great-grandchildren Ellie and Isabelle Grandal and Ansley and Brianna Maloney. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Maloney (2005), half-brother Fred Maloney and parents Phillip and Hazel Kiefer. A Visitation will be held Fri., Dec. 5th from 10-11 AM, with services Fri. at 11 AM, at Culley’s Meadowwood , 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee. Obituary: Mary Nell Maloney, 91, of Orlando, Florida passed away on 27, 2015. Mrs. Maloney was born in Nichols, Florida on 22, 1923 to the late Arthur and Frances Wilson. Mrs. Maloney was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mary worked in the school cafeteria at Evans High School for over forty years. Marys passion was her grandchildren. She was always involved in their sports and wanting to go to each and every game. Her weekends would be full trying to attend them all. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Frederick E. Maloney and her three brothers, Preston, Buddy and Bert Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Miller, son, Eugene C. Maloney, six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Foundation for Orange Public Schools Coach Fred Pennington Endowment Fund or to the Orlando Rescue Mission. Visitation will be held on 31, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00pm with a service to follow at 2:00pm at Woodlawn 400 Woodlawn Road Gotha, Florida. Woodlawn Memorial Park & is in charge of arrangements.
