Obituary: Dorothy Sue DuVall Dorothy Sue DuVall was born 2, 1935 in Philadelphia, MS and passed away 28, 2009 in Long Beach. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael, her son Rion and daughter-in-law, Nobuko, all of Long Beach, her sister Barbara Coblentz of Starkville, MS and many nephews and nieces. She graduated from High School in Meridian, MS and attended Tulane University in New Orleans where she received her Bachelors degree in 1958 and her Masters in 1965. Dorothy was a dedicated and devoted teacher who over a 41 year career taught History, Civics and Economics to over 15,000 Jr. High, High School and University Students. In Long Beach where she spent most of her career, she taught at Hamilton Junior High School, Lakewood High School and when her husband taught for two years at Iowa State University, she also taught Political Science, her major field, at Iowa State. Dottie was modest, cheerful and supportive of her family, her friends, her students, and her church, All Saints Anglican in Long Beach. She was married in a friends New Orleans home on Christmas Day 1958 by the Dean of Christ Church Cathedral to Michael DuVall, a Navy Ensign whom she met at Tulane University where both were students. With that act she became a Navy wife and like thousands of kindred service wives found herself establishing homes, raising a family and moving that family about the country, usually alone and unaided in her trusty 58 Volkswagen. Thus it might be said that she indirectly contributed her bit to support U. S. Foreign Policy and Security as her usually absent husband sailed about the globe wherever and whenever his presence was required. Dottie has also over the years supported the Audubon Society, Sierra Club, Boy Scouts, Tulane University, the Long Beach Library, the Long Beach Opera and the Long Beach Symphony. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary organization for women educators. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, gardening and cooking. And finally she was a member of the Pooh Group (the name taken from Winnie the Pooh) an enduring and endearing group of women teacher friends from her Hamilton Jr. High days. Obituary: Beverly Jane Duvall peacefully passed from this life early morning, 25, 2015 at her residence in Rescue, CA at the age of 91. Her loving family was at her side. Born in Los Banos, California on May 21, 1924 to the late Tony and Wilma (Sears) Bonillas, Her mother later married Harry Lemm of Greenville. She spent her early years in Martinez, CA before moving to the Northeastern California community of Greenville. Beverly is a 1941 graduate of Greenville High School. On 10, 1943 Beverly married Eugene Duvall a former resident of Quincy and a member of the U.S. Marine Corps in San Diego, CA prior to him embarking too serve his country during WWII. To this union three sons were born. Beverly had resided in Sacramento from 1956 – 2006 before health complications required her to move to Rescue, CA to be with her son. She and her husband had spent many years spending time at their vacation home outside of Greenville. Beverly devoted her life to raising and caring for her family although she did enjoy finding time to go shopping and checking out rummage sales. She taught dance classes in Quincy, CA for a number of years. In passing Beverly leaves her sons; Melvin and his wife Donnelle, Marvin and his wife Sandy all of Sacramento, CA and Cliff and his wife Janet of Rescue, CA, along with a number of grand and great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother Earl Lemm. She joins in her eternal home her husband Eugene who passed from this life in 2000. A time of visitation will take place at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel-Greenville, CA from 10:00AM to Noon , 5, 2015 followed by a celebration of her life at 1:00PM. Interment will take place in the Greenville District .
