Obituary: Martha Davidson Dreier 27, 1922 – 29, 2015 Marty Davidson-Dreier passed away at her home in Palm Desert, California at the age of 92. Her life began in Seguin, Texas growing up with two sisters Myrtle and Maudie and many cousins, aunts and uncles as both of her parents Claud and Viola Chessher came from large families. Martha loved going to school growing up and enjoyed the many family gatherings and making and meeting friends throughout her school and adult life. She married Roy Alkire, and moved to California after the Second World War ended. She lived in Gardena with Roy and their two children Calvin and Gloria for over thirty years. Martha moved to Irvine, California in 1970 remarried and started a new life with Ernie Davidson. She lived in Turtle Rock and joined the Newcomers Club eventually becoming president of a very active social group, which welcomed all new residents to Irvine and held many social events throughout the years. She met life-long friends through this group and enjoyed other groups like the gourmet club, as Marty was a very good cook and hostess. She loved to give and attend parties of all kinds and rarely missed an event. She loved her friends and was always willing to make food, set up for a party, help out, and be a great guest by her outgoing fun, friendly, attitude and interest in everyone attending. She also became quite a good bridge player meeting with several groups Marty was always interested in others and making their lives better through social interaction and fun activities. She was always happy, laughing and enjoying life. Marty was a great neighbor. You were always invited into her well kept and beautiful home. She and her husband Ernie also owned a vacation home in Palm Springs. Marty never met a stranger. She would meet people and begin to know them everywhere she went. She loved people, cruises traveling around the world with friends and family shopping, decorating her home, and beautiful clothes. In 2002 her husband Ernie and herself needed to move to a one-story house in Palm Desert. Unfortunately Ernie would pass away before the house was finished and he never completed his journey to Sun City. Marty at age 79 set up a new home alone and began joining the many activities in Sun City. She joined the bridge group attended the many concerts became a member of Friendship Church rarely missing a Service. She met her late husband John Drier in a group called Solos. traveled together and enjoyed dinners with friends throughout their ten years of marriage. Marty lived a full exciting and fun life. She was a strong independent woman who had many qualities that she passed along to her children. Always stand strong in the face of adversity, move forward in life, and cherish your family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother. You are always in our hearts and will be missed everyday. She is survived by her daughter Gloria J. Alkire, two grand children Lorelei Farrell (Baron) and Jason, (Leticia) two great grandchildren Ariel and Isaac, her sister Myrtle, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. |
