Obituary: Wanda was born 13th, 1944 in Hendricks, Minnesota to Vernon and Elaine Dorn. She was the first of what would become 9 Dorn children. Her family moved to Watertown, South Dakota where she went to school and graduated from Watertown High School. graduating high school she lived in and worked in Watertown for about 20 years. During that time she was welcomed with her daughter Robbie Jo. She and Robbie Jo moved to California in 1984 to be closer to her parents and to escape the Midwest winters. She and her brother Gerry bought a home in Westminster, California. This home would lovingly be known as the home of the Dorn Christmas Eve for the next 20 plus years. Christmas was a very special time of year for Wanda- she was known for her Christmas letters and loved staying connected with her friends and family through them. She also loved crafting and often made homemade Christmas gifts. Wanda served as a school teacher and on the preschool board for many years. At work she was an office manager and very much loved her coworkers. She was also very involved in her daugher Robbie Jos activities, serving as girl scout leader and team mom to name a few. Wanda had a friend everywhere she went. Her favorite type of vacation was one spent visiting friends and family. During the 20 plus years in California she traveled back to the Midwest to visit many times. Once she retired her and her sister Sharon would make many of those visiting road trips together. She loved her road trips and always made time for the casinos during them. Wanda gracefully dealt with her debilitating reality of rheumatoid arthritis. She never let it keep her from doing with she wanted to do. Regardless of her condition she put all of herself into everything she did. One of her favorite things she put all of herself into was being a grandmother. In 2007 she became a grandmother. She had three grandchildren in total: Grace, Luke Jr. and Liam. One of her favorite memories was her youngest grandchild Liam learning to walk during her last visit to the east coast. Wanda sadly had to say goodbye to 3 of her beloved siblings over the last few years. She passed away , 17th at 9:30 pm surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law and best friends/sisters; Sharon, Lynette and Nancy. We are comforted in knowing she is welcomed in heaven by her parents and siblings, Larry, Roxy, and Gerry. But most importantly we are confident in knowing she was welcomed by her Lord and Savior Jesus. Wanda is survived by her daughter Robbie Jo, grandchildren, Grace, Luke Jr, and Liam and her siblings Sharon, y, Bruce, Lynette and Shawn. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
