Obituary: Shirley Mae Donkers, 76, known to many as GG passed away from cancer at her home with her family and caregiver Sandra. She was born in Montgomery, MN and moved to Milpitas, CA in 1965. Shirley is survived by her brother Harlyn Gregor, daughter Dawn Sacco, son Scott Donkers, two grandchildren, Jessica Luke (David), Jenna Askins (Justin), three great-grandchildren Cody James, Ellie Mae Rose and Weston Walker and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Gregor, infant son and long time companion Alex Goin. Shirley worked for the United States Postal Service in Milpitas and retired after 33 years. She enjoyed traveling the world, gardening, crocheting, toll painting and spending time with her family. Shirley was a very strong and independent woman who was always up for trying new and sometimes "crazy" things. She was also very stubborn and despite everyone advising her not to do a renovation on her house in her condition, she went ahead with her plans. Watching the progress and updates on her home brought her joy in her last weeks. Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Memorial Mass will be held for Shirley on , 20, 2015 @ 2:30pm St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 750 Sequoia Drive Milpitas, CA 95035. |
