Obituary: Our wonderful mother, Evie Kung-Dong, passed away on , 14, 2014. Evie was the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother anyone could ever ask for. We will miss her dearly, but are grateful for all the memories that we have of her. Many of our fondest memories are of her cooking in the kitchen, feeding us and teaching us how to cook; though, never as good as her. Evie spent her entire life serving those she loved. Her physical and spiritual strength knew no bounds. She grew up in Canton, China where she met her husband. married, and soon after, came to the United States to start a family and a small business in Central Phoenix. She spent almost all of her time raising 5 beautiful kids, while maintaining a small grocery store. In her free time, she loved gardening, playing mahjong with friends, sewing, talking on the phone with friends, reading and watching Chinese or American Soap Operas. Evie was predeceased by her loving husband, Douglas L. Dong Sr., her daughter Rose P. Dong, and her son David Dong. She is survived by her brother, Waur Yuen Kung; her children, Edward (Lannie) Dong, Heather Dong, Douglas L. (Mei) Dong Jr.; her daughters-in-law, Xiu Dong and Eva Dong; her nephew, Lip W. (Jenny) Kung; her niece, Melissa (Alexander) Chow, and by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter. |
