Obituary: Charles A. "Chuck" Dixon 1934 - 2011 Charles "Chuck" Dixon Jr. was born in Long Beach, California, the third child of Charles and Dorothy Dixon. He graduated in 1951 from Wilson High School, where his enthusiasm for sports and people led him to be a cheerleader and, despite being only 4 10" in 9th grade, a D-League basketball player. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Nita Clark, and they spent the next 52 years sharing lifes adventures. were blessed with five children: Dianna Smith, Michael Dixon, Linda Negron, Susan Tate, and Cindy Emami. In his professional life, Chuck worked his way from an entry-level position at Crocker Bank to become Assistant Vice-President, and was later recruited by Angelus Pacific to serve as their General Manager until his retirement in 1996. Even when working long hours, he always found time to be with his wife and children, making their home a loving place for the family to grow. Chucks true passion and his first priority in life was his family. Chucks loving and adoring nature made him an excellent grandpa (Papa) to his 12 grandchildren: Chelsea, Amy, Nicholas, Seth, Sarah, Matthew, Joseph, Samantha, Ethan, Owen, Katie, and Noah. Chuck never said no to babysitting. He was their biggest fan at sporting and school events. Chuck was always there for his family and friends, and he would never hesitate to tell them how much he loved and enjoyed them all. Chuck was a believer in Christ and now walks with him. On 7, he died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant fight with sinus cancer. He will be remembered and missed by all who were blessed enough to share a part of his life with him. Chucks family would like to convey a heartfelt thank you for all of the prayers and well-wishes during his illness. The viewing will be held on , 13 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary, located at 5161 East Arbor Road in Long Beach. services will be held on , 15 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 6220 East Willow Street in Long Beach.
