Obituary: On 19, 2015, Rosina Dinelli, aged 92 years, passed away from complications due io pneumonia. She is survived by daughter Saralee (James), son Kenneth (Latisha), grandchildren Alfred and Arnanda, grealgranddaughter Annabelle Bailey, and broiher John tvlccarty, all of Sacramenio. She was preceded in death on 25, 2015, by Elmer Dinelli, her toving husband of 74 years, She was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and two brothers. Rosina was bom in Luther, Oklahoma on 2, 1923. She was the lasi of 1O children born to John and Rose McCarty. ln 1936, at the age of 13, she moved to California with her parents and two older siblings. settled on Grand lsland in the Sacramento Delta. She attended lsleton Etementary School and Rio Vista High School. On 23, 1940, she married Elmer Dinelli, the love ot her life. made their home in the Sacramento Delta, where Elmer farmed and Rosina was a mother and homemaker. ln 1945, they moved to the Craven and Huber Ranch on Grand lsland, where Elmer worked on the ranch and together, they raised their children. welcomed everyone into their home, and many family parties, holiday and other celebrations were held there. A favorite time was pheasant season, when the men would go hunting, the ladies would work on projects and visit, and Rosina would make large pots of soup and spaghetti and other delicious foods for people to eat throughout the day. She is a good cook, known for her soups and her knack for combining Southern and ltalian dishes into her own specialties. Easter tortas, pumpkin pies made from homegrown pumpkins, and pies and cobblers made from seasonal fruits were special favorites ln 1962, she moved to Sacramento when Elmer accepted a job as Drawbridge Operator on the Tower Bridge. She adjusted to city life and again, her home became a center of activity for the farnily. She attended American River and obtained certification as a Food Services Supervisor. She worked in convalescent hospitals for 15 years, preparing nutritious, tasty meals for the residents. Rosina was active in school, community and church activities. She was president of the parent, Teacher Association in lsleton for two terms. Rosina was very proud of being a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary, holding various offices and serving as president in both lsleton and Sacramento. She enjoyed bowling, ads and crafts, sewing, famity outings, drives, camping at Bodega Bay, growing flowers, taking pictures at family and other events, spending time with family and friends, playing Bingo, and taking a few spins of the 'Wheel of Fortune". The Mccarty's were known for long, serious games of Yatzee. She enjoyed traveling, and in 1980, she and Elmer made a month-long trip to Italy to visit Elmer's relatives, see where his parents were born, and tour ltaly. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she always put the well-being and happiness of her family first. She lived a happy life, and she and Elmer were devoted to each other and enjoyed a long, happy rnarriage. She had a lovely smile and a warm, gracious manner which put people at ease. She was known as "Aunt Rosina and Grandma Zine" to many. Mama, we raise a glass of cornbread and milk in your honor. Or, should that be a strawberry daiquiri? We know you are home with our Heavenly Father, happily reunited with your husband and family, looking down upon us, watching over us, waiting to welcome us home. Rest in peace. you are sadly missed by your family and friends.
