Obituary: Pamela Susan Dietler, 52, of Orangevale, passed away with her family by her side, on May 29,2015. Born 23, 1962 in Sacramento, CA, Pam was the 9th of 10 children born to her parents, the late Don & Elaine Dietler. Pam was an adorable child, with a cute dimple high on her cheek when she smiled or squinted. She was, tender, funny, brave, honest, smart, extremely self-reliant and private. Pam loved her family and friends dearly. She held tightly to her ideals and fiercely stood against unkindness in any form. Pam was a fantastic cross country/track and field runner in high school and continued running into her adult years. She shared this passion for running and fitness with her older brother, Jim Dietler, as they competed together during their years at Foothill High School. Pam passed this gift of athleticism onto her son, James, who was a lettered runner throughout high school. During James' years in athletics, Pam had many roles, such as assistant coach and team mom. She was a certified USATF Level 1 assistant coach. She was an assistant coach for pony baseball & team Mom a number of times for James different teams. Pam was also a talented photographer. She became the team photographer for James' sporting events and tirelessly edited and posted thousands of photos over the years. Pam was always very involved in James sports, making so many great friends and creating many memories over the years. She really enjoyed the traveling with the youth and parents of the Buffalo Chips Youth Running Team. When Pam & Jim became the proud parents of James, Pam knew a passion like no other in her lifetime. James simply became her heart. She loved him beyond measure. Her devotion and love for James is evident in the self assured, compassionate, courageous, and devoted son and young man he is today. Her love for James will live on forever. Pam was a computer whiz and worked in the technology field with the State of California since she was 19 years old. She loved all the truly wonderful people she met while working at the VCGCB(California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board) over the years. She always referred to them as my 'work family'. She retired in 2013, after 31 years with the State of California. Pam loved the pets she had over her lifetime, including many cats, dogs, goldfish and a guinea pig. She enjoyed reading, photography, gardening, knitting & crocheting, scrap booking, card making, jewelry making, a good bottle of wine, cooking, shopping, SHOES, writing, and going to Monterey. She loved visits with extended family, lunching & gossiping & happy hour with friends. She loved little kids & babies (they brought out the silly in her!) Pam LOVED flowers of all kinds and colors, especially roses, sunflowers and dinner plate dahlias. Too early, but with infinite love, Pam leaves behind her devoted husband of 22 years, Jim Bennion, and their beloved son, James Dietler-Bennion. She was predeceased by her parents, Don & Elaine Dietler, her brother, Joe Dietler, and her mother-in-law, Paula Bennion. She is also survived by her fathers-in-law, Lee (Denise) Bennion of Pine Grove, CA and Michael (Diana) Gullett of Madera, CA; her siblings, Linda Dietler, (Pat) Dietler, Patrick (Michelle) Dietler, Tim (Cyndi) Dietler, Diane (Jim) Reese, Jeanie (John) Lawson, Jill Kephart, Jim (Maria) Dietler, Sallie (Frankie) Agosta; her siblings in-law, Julie (Daryl) Retzaff, Justin (Monica) Bennion, Laurie (Chris) Pope, Brian (Kerrie) Bennion, Todd Bennion. Pam leaves behind many adoring nieces, nephews and 2 great nieces. She will be greatly missed by her little dog Walter Winkie and her sweet grand dog, Ophie. A celebration of Pam's life will be held on , 7, 2015 at 1:30pm at Rusch Park Community (7801 Auburn Blvd/ Citrus Heights, CA). |
