Obituary: Paula Ruth Amescua Dewire, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at home in her favorite lounge chair on , 22, 2014, with family by her side. As she entered into eternal life, she was embraced by the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Paula was born Ruth Paulina Buck on May 5, 1919 in McFarland, Calif. to Arthur and Anna Merle Buck. In 1922 her family moved to Ventura, Calif. where Ruth was raised and went to school with her siblings Artie, Dorothy and Marion Buck. In 1940 she attended the University of Redlands, Calif. and then decided to pursue her high school sweetheart, the love of her life Marion R. Amescua who at the time was in the Army and stationed in Washington and the two were married in 1941. Ruth and Marion moved backed to Ventura after Marion was discharged from the Army, where the two enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage till Marions passing on Aug 23, 1991, and where she continued to reside until her passing. Together the two of them had three boys, Michael, Jim and Rob, who were the joy of Ruths life. Ruth loved her family very much and always made sure to provide a loving and safe environment for them. Ruth was gifted with the gift of hospitality and loved to entertain. She loved to cook and made three meals a day along with a homemade dessert for her family. As the boys were growing up, their friends were always welcomed and she made sure to feed them too. Ruth loved to host parties; those times were very special for her and gave her even more opportunities to cook. Her love for cooking came from her mother Anna Merle who had owned the Sunset Grill, on E. Main St. in Ventura, where she worked along side her during her school days. Ruth was also very creative and loved to make beaded items and gold leafed decorations along with gardening and making sure her home always looked beautiful inside and out. Ruth was very active in the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Beta Kappa Chapter #954 for many years. Her sorority sisters were very important to her also and together they would raise money for charitable donations. She was so active that one year she was voted woman of the year. Through the years she would host many of the sorority parties and she especially enjoyed her card game parties that she continued to host well into her seventies with her sorority sisters. Keeping very active and continuing to play cards with her family up until her passing was what kept her going and her mind very alert. In early 1995 four years after the passing of her loving husband Marion; she reconnected with a childhood friend Jay Dewire. In their youthful seventies it didn take long for Ruth and Jay to fall in love and on Nov. 11, 1995 they were married in Las Vegas, NV. were like two teenagers and at that time was when Ruth became known as our loving Paula, and other cute nicknames that Jay called her like Pussycat. Paula taught Jay to play her favorite card game Spite and Malice and they enjoyed playing cards everyday. Paula and Jay enjoyed nearly ten years together until his passing on 3, 2005. To know Paula was to know one of the kindest, loving, caring, giving and women you could know. She was a lady of elegance, beauty and grace. She was always more concerned about others and how they were, verses herself, and she was a blessing to her family. Her life showed a true example of Gods unconditional love to everyone. The beautiful memories we have of Paula Ruth Mom and grandma will live in our hearts forever and we will truly miss her love for us all. Paulas words left in a note for her sons, which they had never seen, reads: Hey! I love you guys! Be the best person you can be, do the best job you can. Love God, family, friends and live with no regrets-- Mom Paula is survived by her sons Michael Amescua, wife DeDe, Jim Amescua, wife Karen and Rob Amescua. She enjoyed the blessing of her four loving grandchildren, Niko Amescua, Mark Amescua, Jennifer Amescua and Rachelle Leoffler, husband Casey and her three beautiful great granddaughters, Jade, Aila and Miley Leoffler, along with her niece and good friend Nita Gibson. A viewing will be held from 4 to 9pm 26th, in the chapel of the Charles Carroll , 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura, and corner of Telegraph. Per Moms wishes there will be no service. under the direction of Charles Carroll , Ventura, CA. |
