Obituary: Shirley, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandma, passed peacefully to her eternal rest on May 20, 2011 surrounded by family. Shirley, 79 years of age, was born 15, 1932 to Shoren and Mable Fenton, in Oakland, CA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Francis V. Desimone, their daughter Janice McAdam, her parents and younger brother Shoren Fenton II. Shirley attended Acalones high school in Layafette, CA. While attending San Jose State University and working at her fathers creamery, Fentons Ice Cream Parlor in Oakland, she met Frank. It was love at first sight and a year later they were married at St. Peters Church in Pittsburg, CA which was home for 25 years. Shirley worked as Franks office assistant in his chiropractic practice, until they moved full-time to Clearlake, CA in 1974. Frank and Shirley were devoted spouses who loved their Catholic Faith and raised ten children. Shirley worked 20 years for the Konocti School District where she was a school secretary at Lower Lake High School and East Lake School and teacher aide at Burns Valley School. Shirley retired in 1995 to spend time with her husband and family, and tend her garden. Shirley had many fond memories of modeling ough love to help her students and their parents be the best people they could be. Shirley was known for her sharp wit, easy laugh, and practical wisdom. She was known to ell it like it is." She did what she could to make life easier for others, not thinking twice of the self-sacrifice that might be involved. In recent years Shirley found great joy making jewelry, a hobby she shared with many family members. She devoted the last two years to making beaded Rosaries which she gave to family, friends and extended family. Praying the Rosary, contemplating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, was part of her daughter Jans legacy that Shirley wished to share with others as part of her own living legacy. Shirley is survived by nine of her 10 children: Ralph (Brigitte) of Walnut Creek, Jerry (Ana) of Modesto; Tom (Erma) of Antioch; Joe of Bakersfield; Bill (Cindy) of Vacaville; Laurie of Clearlake; Jay (Kristen) of Roseville; Linda (Louis) Altic of Eureka; Theresa (Dan) Copas of Clearlake Oaks. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and one more on the way. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to so many who were an important in Moms life, especially her care-givers during her extended illness. The family invites everyone who knew Shirley to attend her Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial to be held on , May 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church at the corner of Uhl and Howard Streets in Clearlake, CA. Burial will follow at the Lower Lake and all are invited to return to the Church for a reception in her honor. In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested that donations be made to the charity of ones choosing. under the direction of Jones & Lewis , Lower Lake, CA. |
