Obituary: Our dearly beloved wife and mother Sally Misao DeLaura passed away on Mothers Day, May 12, 2013. She was 76 years old and passed away at her daughters home in Oceanside, CA from cancer. Sally was born 28, 1936 in Red Bluff CA, near Sacramento. She married Ernest DeLaura on 20, 1954. Ernie and Sally traveled to many places when Ernie was in the Air Force. lived in Okinawa, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming and then after Ernie retired from the Air Force they continued to travel to different states and countries where Ernie worked. Their last two homes were in Pueblo CO and Gilbert AZ. Sally loved to cook, her delicious sukiyaki we will always remember. She learned to cook Italian food from her mother-in-law at the age of 18. Her Italian food was also delicious. Sally loved to dance, yodel, yes! yodel!, loved flowers and birds, especially hummingbirds, enjoyed writing every year at Christmas time to her family and friends, and also calling them to see how they were doing. She loved people. She also enjoyed reading, especially true life stories about people who went to Heaven and came back to tell their miraculous story. Sally is survived by her husband Ernie of Gilbert AZ; daughter Cheryl (DeLaura) Dixon and husband Joshua of Oceanside CA; son Dan DeLaura of Pueblo CO, son Bryan DeLaura and wife Candy of Helendale CA; son Gary DeLaura of Gilbert AZ; son Chad DeLaura and wife Gina of Mesa AZ; eight grandchildren, Alexander Dixon, Michael Dixon, Taylor DeLaura, Brenden DeLaura, Tyra DeLaura, Darien DeLaura, Chad DeLaura and Ashlee Conatser; Six Great-grandchildren, Ethan, Wesley, Aspen, Audree, Ava and Alaina. Sally is also survived by Dawn Reitz and Missy Fredericks, whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bunjiro and Jun Hironaka, four brothers Fumio, Richard (Kyoto), George (Sueyo) and Kochi; three sisters Betty (Sumiko), Ruby (Teruko) and Sue. Sally is survived by her brother Jim (Minoru) and her sister Mary (Tamako). Cremation has taken place under the direction of Eternal Hills in Oceanside CA. A memorial will take place on 29th at Saint Mary Magdelene Catholic Church in Gilbert AZ. And afterwards, a memorial reception will take place at the home of Gary DeLaura in Mesa AZ. Sally wanted all to know to love each other and forgive each other. She had a beautiful heart for the Lord. Sally speaking to her son Chad DeLaura the night she passed away, in his dream: "Mom came to me in a dream last night. She told me not to cry & she said she spoke to God & He was soft spoken & kind & that God said that there's nothing anyone could have done about the cancer. It was meant to be. It was fate. I asked her if Heaven was wonderful. She said Heaven was beautiful & she was happy. She didn't want me to worry or be sad about her, that she knows I miss her & love her so much & she loves me very much too & everything is going to be okay. She kissed me on the forehead & it was the weirdest thing, I could see her face, she looked younger, maybe 40ish, then she said she had something important to tell me, to get a pen and paper or remember it and she started to say 100 and I woke up crying and she didn't get to tell me what was so important." -- Mom passed away May 12, 2013 - Mother's Day. She was a wonderful loving, kind, patient, understanding Mother. She is still with us, in our hearts. We will all see her again. |

Obituary: Carmel, California - Eugenie Delatour passed away on May 1, 2016. She was born on May 5,1921 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1942. During World War II, Eugenie went to Washington DC to work for the British Embassy. It was in Washington where she met Hunter Delatour, a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy. Eugenie and Hunter spent 68 happy years together, living on Long Island, New York and in Reading Pennsylvania, before moving out to Northern California in 1965. retired to Carmel Valley in 1996. Eugenie and Hunter traveled extensively throughout Hunters service on National and International Tennis committees, thus creating lasting friendships all around the world. She was an active volunteer for many years, serving on several committees including Junior Leagues in New York and California, numerous Garden Clubs, and the Board of Peninsula Family Service. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, her passion for gardening and flower arranging, as well as her kind and thoughtful nature which she extended to everyone she met. Eugenie was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Anne (Richard), Debbie, and Susan and grandchildren, Paige, Joe, Philip (Eva), Patrick and Diana. Donations may be made in Eugenie's memory to The Historic Garden League of the Monterey Peninsula (www.historicgardenleague.org) or to The Monterey Symphony (www.montereysymphony.org). |
