Obituary: Wayne Leslie Armstrong, 69, passed away suddenly on 14, 2015 due to a heart attack. He was born on 24th, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama and spent his childhood in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Patricia Thompson Armstrong, daughters Lisa Armstrong Carr of Golden, Colorado and Lara Armstrong Bolte of Richboro, Pennsylvania, sons-in-law Michael Carr and Robert Bolte, and grandchildren Reagan Carr, Noah Carr, Jonah Bolte, and Robert Bolte; as well as his two sisters Cheryl Kay Armstrong Cavender and Janet Armstrong Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Armstrong, Sr. and Lois Gober Armstrong. The lives that were touched by this wonderful man have literally spanned the world. Before his recent retirement, Wayne and his wife Trish lived in Roseville, California, where he was the President of Kratos Unmanned Systems, a global supplier of unmanned jet aircraft for military training. Immediately preceding that, he and Trish lived for many years in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he was President and General Manager of Micro Systems, Inc., a local supplier of military training systems. His career was further highlighted by his service as President of Keltek Corporation, Division President of Aydin Yazlim in Ankara, Turkey, and Vice President of Metric Systems Corporation in Fort Walton Beach. As a young engineer, he was an integral part of the development team for the US Navys Aegis Weapons System and Vertical Launching System in Orlando, Florida. True to his character, even in retirement, Wayne generously offered advice and encouragement to the teams he left behind. Beginning with his early years as a young electrical engineer from Lamar University, and later with his Masters degree in Business Administration from Rollins , Wayne excelled in both his technical prowess and his even-handed managerial skills. Wayne spent a lifetime supporting the men and women of our armed forces, either designing or leading the development of complex systems for US forces and friendly nations around the world. He was fiercely patriotic, gaining the well-deserved reputation as a level headed leader who generously mentored countless individuals who were lucky enough to cross his path. While Waynes accomplishments and professional legacy are nothing short of amazing, he will be most fondly remembered by his colleagues as a humble and selfless person, generous with his knowledge, incredibly funny with his humor, completely dedicated to his family, and a man that we all were blessed to know as a friend. His family was even more profoundly blessed. Wayne did everything in his life fully and to its highest potential, especially loving his family. He was a wonderful father to his girls and a fantastic Pop to his grandchildren. He loved unconditionally. He laughed easily and often, sang to country music in the car, and loved making up silly words and making silly faces to make his kids and grandkids laugh. He loved Auburn and Florida State football as well as being a big fan of Choctawhatchee High School band and sports. He rarely ended a phone call with his daughters or his wife without telling them he loved them. He had an amazing ability to remember the names of anyone who came into his life - friends, his daughters friends, teachers, coworkers. Wayne was an incredible man who made everyone feel important and he will be missed by many. A celebration of Waynes life will be held at Emerald Coast home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 on , 18th at 11:00 am with a period of visitation starting at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), a non-profit organization which Wayne was passionate about and served on the board of for many years. |

Obituary: Susan P. Armstrong, age 61, passed away 30 2016, after a three year battle with cancer. She was born in Paterson, New Jersey and lived in Riverdale, New Jersey until marrying Charles R. Armstrong, a dashing young Naval Officer from nearby Lincoln Park, New Jersey. Together Susan and Charles spent 30 years as a Navy family with assignments spanning the United States and Hawaii. Always the dutiful Navy wife, she managed thirteen moves associated with the new assignments and kept the home fires burning while Charles was deployed. For the past 23 years, Susan was immersed in history as a reenactor and docent. In that capacity she worked at the Frontier Army Museum at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, The Mission Houses Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii, Cracker Country at the Hillsborough Fairgrounds in Tampa and the Clara Barton in Glen Echo, Maryland. Additionally she participated in living history events up and down the eastern seaboard and was a long time member of the Society for Women in the Civil War. Later, after she and Charles settled in Jacksonville, she devoted her time to being a volunteer to two causes near and dear, the Mayport USO and the Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Captain Charles R. Armstrong, USN (Retired); their son, Corey of Fort Worth, Texas; Her father, Michael Tand of Deland, Florida; and two sisters, Sharon of Modesto, California and Pamela of Quincy, Massachusetts. A celebration of life memorial and reception for Susan will be held on , 12 2016 at 11am at the Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL. |
