Obituary: Francis Seymour Aarons, was born 2, 1924 in Falmouth, Jamaica to Clarence and Theresa Aarons. He was the fifth of eight children. His mother gave him the pet name of Bob after she went to see a movie starring Bob Steele, she thought that her baby boy was just as handsome as the movie star. The name stuck with him through his entire life. As a young man growing up he excelled in school, often scoring top grades in math, the sciences and the arts while also excelling in sports. He had a sharp and curious mind that fueled his love of learning and his love of life. When World War II started Bob joined the West India Regiment and later left to join the British Royal Air Force in England. The war time for him was a formidable time in his life, it was during that time that he excelled athletically and also solidified his self confidence stepping into the shoes of the man we knew him to be. He returned to Jamaica after the war to resume civilian life. his military service had ended he was offered the choice of land or technical education as a part of his compensation package. He chose to be trained as an electrician, this became his lifelong profession expanding into his personal business as a licensed electrical contractor in of 1960. It was during this time in his life that the first two of his five children were born, Gary and Maxine. On 22, 1955 married the love of his life Winnifred Jones and together they had three children, Jennifer, Marlene and Phillip. Bob lived with his family in St. Andrew Jamaica where he was a loving, loyal and devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle to his family. In 1983 he migrated to the USA where he settled in New York. retiring he and Winnie moved to Florida to live in 2004. An engaging storyteller, Bob enjoyed company and was always at the center of laughter as he regaled his audience with witty jokes and funny anecdotes. He was masterful with the use of his facial muscles and would wiggle his nose or his eyebrows or ears to entertain the children. Although Bob was the father of five children, he stepped into the role of father and grandfather to many more. His love of people and his love of life, his generous heart, his indomitable spirit, his sense of humor and his wit will immortalize him in our hearts forever. He leaves behind his wife: Winnifred, children: Gary, Maxine, Jennifer, Marlene and Phillip, grandchildren, great grand children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. In tribute to the memory of our beloved Francis, we will be placing personal notes in the casket, expressing our love and gratitude to him. These sealed notes will remain with him and will become a permanent part of his ashes. We are also requesting that everyone wears blue or wear something with that color as this was his favorite color. |
