Obituary: Banta, Shirley, 78, entered into eternal rest on 27, 2015. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Shirley enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching as her past time. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Banta. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy Welcher (Jimmy), Gerald Huffman, and Victoria Farnham; grandchildren, Mike Sizemore (Tracy), Daniel Sizemore, Christopher Lewis (Sara), Melissa Lewis, and Evan Farnham; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Tom Mattingly (Doris), Jane Wheatley (Tom), Pat Miles (Bland), Betty Cambron (George), Wanda Newton, Ronnie Mattingly, J.W. Mattingly (Barbara), Rick Mattingly (Sandra), and John Mattingly (Alice); several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be at noon at Evergreen . Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Evergreen immediately following the service. |

Obituary: Banta, Lurlene "Stevie" (Reiss), 93, passed away on , 27, 2014 at Treyton Oak Towers in the Skilled Unit. Stevie was born in Frankfort, KY and graduated from Bridgeport High School and the Kentucky Baptist School of . She was preceded in death by two husbands, Augie Reiss and Harry Banta, her parents Neville and Lola Stevens, and her brother Leon Stevens. She is survived by her son Don Reiss (Sheila) of Louisville, three granddaughters, Jill Harper (Scott) of Washington, DC, Beth Reiss of Louisville, and Sara Reiss Crosby (Jamie) of Atlanta; four great-grandchildren, Alice and A.J. Harper, and Gillie and Charlie Crosby; stepson, Tom Banta (Debbie) of Houston, TX and step granddaughters, Jenny and Carli Banta and step grandson, Thomas Banta of Metairie, LA. Special thanks to all the caregivers at Belmont Village and more recently both the Personal and Skilled units at Treyton Oak Towers who cared for her over four years. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, 2931 Pindell Avenue at 1:00pm on , , 30 2014 with burial to follow at Calvary . Visitation will be from 3:00pm - 8:00pm , 29 and from 11:00am - 12:30pm at Arch L. Heady Russman and Sons, 1201 E. Oak Street. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Crusade for Children or the Church of the Epiphany Connection Campaign.
