Obituary: Martha was born 12, 1921 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Otis Frost and Grace Pletcher Frost. The family moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1926. Martha attended various schools in the Valley, graduating from Nampa High School in 1939. Martha married Jack Chipman in Twin Falls, ID on 22, 1940. farmed in the Meridian area and later ranched north of Mountain , ID at Canyon Creek, the site of one of the last remaining stage stops on the Oregon Trail. Many of Marthas most fond memories were times spent at the Canyon Creek ranch. She referred to those days as Heaven on Earth. In of 1966, they retired to Mountain where Martha worked at the hospital as a medical records technician. Jack died in 1969. Martha married George Ascuena on 27, 1974. farmed south of Mountain for 23 years. George died in May 1997. Martha was active in square dancing at one time. She was also a member of the local Grange, the First Christian Church, the Accredited Records Technicians, the Mountain chapter of Business and Professional Women and the Shamrock Club of Weiser, ID where she enjoyed helping raise funds for the historic Jeffreys Schoolhouse. Martha had two sons with Jack, Gary (Margie) Chipman of Weiser, ID and Bill (Carol) Chipman of Pullman, WA. Bill died in 1996 and Gary died in 2013. She had two step-children, Cristina (John) Serpa of Pocatello, ID and David (Ruth) Ascuena of Mountain , ID. Her nine grandchildren include Bryan (Lisa) Serpa, Cindy (Chud) Wendle, Rob (Kim) Chipman, Rick (Lisa) Chipman, Mendizje Serpa, Andrea Ascuena, Marcela Ascuena, Sr. Michaela Serpa, FSE and Anthony Serpa. She had ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Martha is preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters. Martha was 95 when she passed away 3, 2016 in Weiser, ID. Her love of faith, family and friends was matched by no other. She was a true gift to all who knew her. |

Obituary: Denita Eslinger Arvanitakis 8/24/55 \ 12/13/14 Denita was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Elmer D and Mary Etta Eslinger. She was a twin to brother Dan. Likewise, her father Elmer was a twin to his sister, Velma, whose name he lovingly bestowed on Denita. Denita was blessed to have six siblings and all seven inherited family first names with each childs middle name beginning with D: Dennis, Denise, DeAnne, Doug, Dan, Denita, Dean (Kelly) who broke with tradition and always went by his first name, Kelly. all survive her. Kimberly was a special place to Denita. She went through all 12 years of school in Kimberly, graduating in 1973. Dan was there by her side until it came to the classroom experiences where the teachers separated them because Denita was inclined to do all the talking for Dan. Nonetheless, Denita and Dan were inseparable and each afternoon was a daily reunion. Denita learned the value of work growing up on the Kimberly farm where she did the same chores as older siblings. True to her artistic nature, however, she also cleverly devised ways to escape farm duty, a pattern easily detected by Elmer and Mary but patiently tolerated. For many adults who look back on their high school days they honestly conclude it was a mixed bag. Not Denita. She regaled at every aspect of high school. She played the clarinet in band, belonged to the drill team and attended every athletic event. She was a passionate supporter of Dans high school wrestling career, at which he excelled. In his wisdom God sparingly bestows artistic ability as though He were cautiously certain that only a few could improve upon his handiwork. Denita was so blessed. The examples of Denitas creative talents are legion. Where most people saw a yard with grass to be mowed, Denita saw a blank canvas upon which she could create a masterpiece. And, not content with simply an artistic landscape, Denita studied horticulture and received her Associate degree from Boise State in that challenging subject matter. Rare is the landscape artist who could also cite Latin botanic nomenclature. It is unfortunate that Denita passed away before Christmas because the season brought out her creative best. Denita could take pine boughs and turn them into wreaths that would make you pray for snow. At the Boise Festival of Trees, an annual St. Alphonsus charity gathering, Denitas wreaths fetched the highest prices and consistently won Best of Show. Her decorative Chtistmas trees were a wonder to behold. At Christmas Denita was a one woman Nutcracker. Christmas is also that time when people engaged in service to others stand out. True to Denitas character she spent the last several years of her life in California attending to the needs of her former husband, Nick, who has been in declining health. California was also home to Denitas two children Aaron and Tina both of whom were grateful to her for the attentive care given to their father. Denitas personal rendering of service was matched by her affiliations. While in Kimberly, Denita was a member of Jobs Daughters, Bethel #43, Twin Falls and in Boise/Nampa, Daughters of the Nile, Iras Templel #40. Upon moving to California she was active in Daughters of the Nile, Nefru Ari, Temple #17, Richmond, CA and Order of Eastern Star Diablo Chapter 214 in Orinda, CA. Denita leaves behind many family survivors whose lives have been enriched by hers. include: brothers Dennis (Darlene), Twin Falls; Doug (Cathy), Boise; Dan (Roxi), Kennewick, WA; Kelly (Michelle), Caldwell; sisters DeAnne Bithell (Neil), Boise; Denise Allred (Bob), Eagle; children, Aaron (Claire) Healdsburg, CA; Tina Arvanitakis-Kerrigan (Hunter) Los Altos, CA. Neices and nephews include: Dawn, Jamie, Michelle Eslinger and Amy Bithell; Josh, Scott, Michael and Kaleb Eslinger and Jason Grant. The most precious survivors include Denitas grandchildren Izzy Arvanitakis, Archie Arvanitakis, and on 19, 2015, Tinas baby whose arrival was much anticipated by Denita. As you might expect of Denita the list of survivors must also include her puppies Esl, Pax and Zaggy. Preceding Denita in passing were parents Elmer and Mary Eslinger and two infant siblings Judy Marie (1944) and Donald Elmer (1945). Denitas passing on 12/13/14 was a date of sorrow for her family and friends. But, around the world were thousands of weddings and hopeful parents encouraging labor pains for the birth of their child. Sequential dates such as 12/13/14 are considered lucky and are chronologically rare. The next one is a mere 89 years off. Somehow a rare date befits a rare lady. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on , 22, 2014 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 161 6th Avenue East in Twin Falls with Fr. Mike St. Marie celebrating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on evening, 21st at Reynolds Chapel, 2466 Addison Avenue East in Twin Falls.
