Obituary: Juanita Cobb Ussery Mrs. Ussery, age 94 of Indialantic, Florida formerly of West Palm Beach, FL was welcomed home by the Angels on , 15, 2010. Juanita was born on 22, 1916 in Shamrock, Oklahoma and in 1919 moved to the South Florida area coming from Charleston, West Virginia with her aunt & uncle whom adopted her following the sudden loss of her parents during the Great Flu Epidemic. Juanita resided in the Historic District section of Flamingo Park for most of her life in Palm Beach . She loved her Lord and attended the former First United Methodist Church of West Palm Beach for morning worship, which is now the Performing Arts at City Place. She was a Palm Beach High School graduate. Juanita was a former member of the Las Megas (Bridge Players) Group which met in Palm Beach. Mrs. Ussery was employed by Macys-Burdines for many years and worked in the Inventory Control Department and she also worked in Palm Beach as a Custom Seamstress on Worth Avenue. She loved making custom dresses for her daughter, Sheilas high school years at Palm Beach High School. Juanita could look at a dress design while window shopping with her daughter, she would then reach into her purse and pull out a sketch pad and sketch the dress in the window, go home and make the same identical dress for Sheila. She also loved working the earth planting flowers and gardening in her yard. Juanita was the Rock of the family the ethereal glue that held the family together. She will be most assuredly missed by all of those who knew and loved her! Juanita leaves behind to cherish her memories, a loved daughter, Sheila (Anthony) Keaton of Indialantic, FL; two adored grandchildren, David Joseph Rupp, Jr. of Alaska, and Tiffany Lynne Rupp of West Palm Beach, FL; and her precious great granddaughter, Dianna Juanita Rupp of Alaska. Friends may visit and pay respects to the family from 9AM - 11AM on , 21, 2010 at Mizell-Faville-Zern & Cremation Services, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405 with a Celebration of Life Service held at 11AM, Pastor Kent Crow will officiate. Obituary: John Andrew Ussery, 51 of Sanford, FL died May 16, 2017. John died a true hero, giving his life to save the life of a co-worker, who was swept to sea by a rip current at Clarke Ave Beach, in West Palm Beach, FL. According to bystanders, John, upon hearing the cries of help, immediately without any hesitation ran into the surf and swam to the aide of his friend. Police tried to reach John with a buoy but couldn’t because of high swells, when rescuers were finally able to reach John, he said “Thank goodness you made it, I didn’t have any strength left”. John was still alive when they first reached the beach and was able to give them some information, and then he became unconscious and he was unable to be revived. John was born on 4, 1966 in Rockledge,FL., moving with his family to California, where they stopped at anything and everything from Rockledge to California. His family moved back to FL, living for a short time in Orlando and eventually moving to Jacksonville, FL where they lived until the death of his father, Billy F. Ussery. At that point his mother Nadine Ussery Welsh decided they would be happier if they were to return to their home in Rockledge, FL. Eventually his mother remarried and the family all moved to Orlando and finally to Sanford, where John lived with his beloved wife and son. John Ussery is remembered by many friends and co-workers who over the years all say John would not hesitate to jump in if he saw someone in danger or in need of help in any way. Many people say about someone, that he’s a good guy, he’d give you the shirt off his back. In John’s case that is the truth, he would give you the shirt off his back. While living in Daytona several years ago, and due to hard times, John was living with very little, and an elderly woman lost everything she had except for the clothes she was wearing when she lost her home to a fire. Upon learning this, John gathered all his belongings and took them to her. When asked by his mother why he did this when he didn’t really have anything, John’s reply was “Mama, she needed what I had more than I did, I’ll be fine.” Just one example of the kind of man John really was, a hero in every sense. John is survived by his the love of his life his wife, Jung Hua Choi and his reason for living his son Gabriel N. Ussery, his mother Nadine L. Welsh, his father, Timothy P. Welsh, and by his two sisters, Dena M. Voltoline and Laurel A. Moore. He is also survived by his brother in-law, Larry D. Moore and his brother-in law James Voltoline. He is also survived by his 7 nieces and nephews, Shane Moore, Adam Moore, Nicole Moore, Lindsey V Kelly, Christina Voltoline, Jade Voltoline and Samantha Voltline. John was preceded in his death by his father Billy F. Ussery a retired police officer from Rockledge, and maternal and fraternal grandparents. He is also remembered by many friends and co-workers, who all remember him fondly. His memorial service is tentatively scheduled for , May 27,2017, details will be released at a later date.
