Obituary: Cezar Lingat Canlas, 92 years of age, passed away peacefully on , 13, 2016 at the Milpitas . Cezar was born 27, 1923 in Manila, Philippines to Placido and Miguela (Lingat) Canlas. He was the second oldest of 11 children, 8 preceded him in death. He graduated from Jose Rizal . He worked as a manager for companies in Guam, Camp John Hay, Zamboanga, and Manila. Cezar married Norma Sinocruz Canlas in 1958 and four children were born from this union. Cezar loved singing, gardening, and collecting and restoring old things. Cezar is survived by his wife, Norma Sinocruz Canlas; his 4 children, Michael, Susan, Nelson and Evelyn; in-laws, Liberty, Gil, Dolores and Salvador Jr.; 10 grandchildren, Jairus, Jaycer, Justin, Bryan, Genelle, Bruce, Bryle, Blytes, Karl and Kenneth; 2 brothers, Ruperto and Jesus; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. |

Obituary: Canlas, Ambrosio 12/07/1922 - 4/06/2015 Ambrosio Canlas was born in Manila, Philippines in 1922. He immigrated to San Francisco, California at the age of 5. He was one of six children. Ambrosio loved tinkering and building things. Race cars with custom engines & modified motorcycles for himself and custom bicycles and go-carts for his Grandchildren. Ambrosio joined the army at 18 where he manned large anti-aircraft guns in Alaska during the Korean War and World War II. He married his first love Jean Canlas in 1941 and quickly started a career with the Parks & Recreation division for the City of San Francisco moving large construction equipment throughout the city. He retired at the early age of 49 to care for Jean who's kidney's were failing. She died 10 years later in 1981. Heartbroken, Ambrosio moved to the island of Oahu in Hawaii where his brother Tony lived. Three weeks later, he met and fell in love with Josie Canlas, marrying her seven months later. bought a little apartment in Waikiki and happily performed and taught Hawaiian dances while cruising around the world to see and experience new places. At the age of 78 and looking for a change, they moved to Escondido, California to be closer to family. Ambrosio and Josie tried two different active retirement communities but quickly thought it to be "a bunch of old people" not active enough for them. So, they bought an old home built in 1891 in Old Escondido and started renovating. It was their pride and joy and caught the attention of all the neighbors! converted a space in the rear of the home to a dance studio and taught many Latin & Hawaiian dances to lots of locals. But they soon found the winters in California cold to their bones. So in 2007, at the age of 85 & 89, Ambrosio and Josie bought a tiny vacation condo in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii to stay warm during Escondido's winter. immediately got involved in Karaoke singing and performing Hawaiian and Latin dances wherever they could. Josie soon caught a cold that took a turn for the worse and died less than a few months after their arrival there. Ambrosio, after 65 years of love and married life, moved back to his home in Escondido and busied himself with more cruises and six nights out each week for karaoke... sometimes taking cabs all the way to Carlsbad. He became a popular local at many bars and restaurants singing favorites like "Unforgettable" and "I Did It My Way". He made tons of lifelong friends. At age 91, living alone became difficult. He moved into an assisted living community near his Grandchildren and daughter and then into a smaller quiet residence in University City in of 2014. Dementia and a frail body got the best of him. He is survived by his only child Terry, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, and nieces/nephews to name a few. A celebration of life will be held this , 25th 2015 from 2pm - 5pm at Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary, 3655 5th Avenue in San Diego, California 92103. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in hopes of ridding our world of this sad disease. Obituary: Evelina Canizales passed away at her home on , 22, 2016 at the age of 73. Evelina is survived by her loving husband Carlos, of 47 years. Evelina is lovingly remembered by her husband Carlos, daughter Margarita, son Carlos, son Alex and his wife Julie, and grandchildren Cameron, Jacob, Maia, Colin, Dylan, and Kennedy. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Evelina was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1942. She moved to the United States in the early 60's, where she earned her degree in nursing. She worked at several hospitals in southern California and in Panama City, Panama. She moved to Upland, California in 1977 with her husband Carlos, three children, and helped him develop and manage a successful medical practice. Evelina enjoyed traveling, watching movies, reading books, and spending time with all of her family and friends. The funeral service will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park on 1, 2016, at 2pm with Pastor Royce Bell officiating. Bellevue Memorial Park is located at 1240 W G St., Ontario, CA 91762. Reception to follow service. Flowers can be sent to Draper Mortuary, 811 N Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762.
