Obituary: Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his Harley, working on his hotrods, playing cards and shooting pool. He was respected in the American Poolplayers Association (APA) of Bakersfield for over 15 years, playing 8-ball and 9-ball and earning top-rankings as well as Top Shooter awards. In his younger years he enjoyed water skiing, riding dirt bikes, racing go-carts, cars and boats (anything fast). He was a hunter of game and fowl, and spent many years shooting trap where he won numerous awards for his skill. He taught his children to live adventurously and enjoy life to its fullest. Through his example, his incredible work ethic was instilled in his children who made him very proud. Paul was born to Clyde and Lee Anne Cable on 31, 1938 in Coalinga CA and later moved to Bakersfield where he spent his childhood years along with his sister Jennie (Guinn). He attended North High School where he played football for Coach Turk and where he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Carlile. Soon after graduation, Paul and Carolyn were married on Valentines Day 1957, and were fortunate to have celebrated their 54th anniversary together before Carolyn was called home to heaven in 2011. Paul and Carolyn welcomed their three children, Teresa (Alvarez), Tammy (Combs), and Kevin, into the world within a short five year period. As a young family they spent many happy summers on Redinger Lake with the Guinn family, boating and camping. As the family grew to include 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren family gatherings grew to be even more special. Great food, fun, and laughter were enjoyed by all who were lucky enough to be part of Paul & Carolyns blessed family. As time grew closer to the end of Dads journey here on earth, he would often say I want to go to heaven and be with Jesus and my beautiful wife, Carolyn. At home with his family, Paul was called home to be with the Lord and his eautiful wife on evening 6, 2014. We will miss him dearly but find comfort in knowing that we will be reunited with him in eternity. Ok, see you later. A memorial service is being held at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel on , 11 at 9:00am. A graveside service will follow. |
