Obituary: Ellen Sue Austin, 79, of Atkins, received her wings and entered into the gates of Heaven on , 17, 2015, at the Atkins . She was born 23, 1936, in Pottsville, to Fred and Cora Mae Heflin Kendrick. She married the love of her life, Bernell Fatman Austin on 22, 1958, and together they owned and operated nine different cafes, as many as four at the same time. She was a member of the New Beginning Independent Assembly Church at Ridge, a Past Worthy Matron of the Atkins Chapter 512 and Arkansas Valley Chapter 606 Orders of the Eastern Star, a Past Deputy Grand Lecturer of the Arkansas Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Bernell Austin; a granddaughter, Traci Locke; and a sister, Sylvia Heflin. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Clark of London; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Austin of Atkins; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, six brothers, six sisters and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on , 21, 2015, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Charles Kendrick. Burial will be in Bells Chapel in Atkins, by Shinn Service of Russellville. Active pallbearers will be Michael, David B. and Richard Austin, John Morton, Daryl Thalman and Jonathan Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Tina Victory, the nurses and staff of the Atkins , and Dr. Timothy Johnson. The family will receive friends on afternoon, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home. |
