Obituary: Joey Lee Askue II, age 24 of Armorel, passed from this life , 26, 2015. Joey was born to Joey Askue and Bobbye Randallyn Fleeman in Blytheville and worked for Wallace and Stout Farms. Joey was a lifetime resident except for the years of honorable service to his country as a United States Marine. Joey loved to work the farm. His love for being outdoors, to work the soil and see results of a farm hands labor was very satisfying to him. He was a talented individual who loved to play his guitar. Playing was a way in which Joey was able to express and release his own style of music. The music helped him to relax, love life and live it to the fullest. His music went hand in hand with his love about talking politics and history. He expressed himself with these subjects openly and with much passion. Joey was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Fleeman and grandmother, Barbara Haynes. Joey is survived by his parents, Joey Askue of Hughes and Bobbye Wendy Brubaker of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; fiancé, Shanea Sheppard of Blytheville; a son, Wyatt Lee Askue of Blytheville; grandparents, Mary Jackson of Steele, Missouri, Danny and Vickie Askue of Blytheville; brothers, Cory Fleeman of Paragould, Jason Brown of Steele, Missouri, George Saltsgaver of Marianna, Arkansas, Lloyd Saltsgaver of Kennett, Missouri, Austin May of Truman; sisters, Tiffany Crawford of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, Katie Clayton of Gosnell; uncles, Mark Fleeman, Marty Fleeman, Jeffrey Askue, J.P. Obituary: Mrs. Betty Jo Ray Askue, age 73 of Gosnell passed from this life on , 14, 2015 in Gosnell. Born to William and Winnie Cannon Ray in Mississippi , Arkansas, she was a lifelong resident. Betty was a homemaker and attended the First United Pentecostal Church of Manila, Arkansas. Betty loved to sing and loved all types of music. She always looked forward to the time when Otis and the kids would get their guitar and play along with her. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Being surrounded by her family was what she enjoyed more than anything in the world. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Alan Hall and Glen Hall; brother, William Howard Ray and sister, Mary Perritt. Obituary: Alvie Melburn Askins, Sr. of Morrilton, passed from this life peacefully on 29, 2015. Melburn was the son of John and Lucy Askins. He was born on 1, 1939. He was married to the late Deloris Young. Melburn and Deloris had two children, Melanie Wells and Mel Askins of Morrilton. Melburn and Deloris separated, he spent most of his life travelling the Northeast. He eventually settled in Washington with the late Florence Thompson. He lived with Florence for several years and was Papa Mel to their grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 2006, with the help of an internet search, Melburn was re-united with his former wife Deloris and their children. He spent the last nine years of his life in Morrilton regaining a lost relationship with Deloris and their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing poker, horse racing and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by both Deloris and Florence, Florences son Jeff King, his mother and father and his brother, Troy of Neosho, Missouri. He is survived by his daughter Melanie Wells and her husband Edwin Wells of Morrilton; son, Mel Askins and his wife Lynn Askins also of Morrilton; Joe and Donna Duplesis of Washington and Les Brown of Washington. We are saddened by our dads passing but we are grateful that we had these last nine years with him to enjoy getting to know him. We are also thankful for the family that he had in Washington and their affection for him as father and grandfather. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. , 2, at Rosebud with Mel Askins, Jr. officiating. are by Harris of Morrilton. |
