Obituary: Brooke Elizabeth Ziegler, age 60, of 6815 Barkworth Drive, Dallas, TX, adored wife of Bob, and beloved mother of Rob, Claire and Gayle, passed away after bravely battling leukemia on 14, 2014. Brooke was born in Lansing, Michigan on 4, 1953 to Robert Phillips and Dorothy Richardson Phillips. Brooke grew up in Fort Wayne and Muncie Indiana and graduated from Muncie Northside High School in 1972. In 1978 she graduated from Ball State University. During this time Brooke developed a love of travel and this passion led to her life-long career at Delta Airlines where she was hired in , 1979 as a Flight Attendant. In 1983 Brooke went on a Delta Learn To Ski week in Copper Mountain, Colorado with friends and met the love of her life and future husband, Bob Ziegler, a Delta Pilot. Bob lived in New Orleans, LA while Brooke was based in Chicago and in 25, 1984 they were married and settled in Dallas, TX. Together they raised three children, Robert (Rob) William, Claire Jacqueline, and Gayle Theresa, the lights of their lives. As a devoted parent, Brooke dedicated herself to her children. She was a member of the Prestonwood Elementary, Parkhill JH and Pearce HS PTA. She attended and actively participated in all of her childrens sports and school activities. While raising her children, Brooke introduced them to world cultures through international travel. Frequently her family accompanied her on Delta Dream Vacations throughout Europe and abroad. Brookes love of life and passion for adventure was infectious. Everyone she came in contact with enjoyed and appreciated her honest and frank nature. Brookes numerous community involvements included Troop (sending care packages to our troops overseas), Pearce Womens Community League and the Richardson Junior League. 9/11 Brooke collected and donated funds to the NYFD which she personally hand delivered in NYC. Brooke was diagnosed with AML leukemia 5/17/13. The following , to pay it forward, she and her family organized a Be The Match drive at All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas. Her efforts and notoriety resulted in a substantial increase of awareness in the Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Brooke derived joy, peace and satisfaction from being with friends, especially her Bunko group, her extended family, book club, bible study group, exercising, biking, walking, and playing golf. In addition to her husband and children, Brooke is survived by her siblings: Tracy Hayse, her husband Richard, Mark Phillips, his wife Sue, Coby Odom, Jake Phillips, and his wife Val. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Seth and Heather Hayse, Aaron and Logan Hayse. Jake, Sam, Emily and Rachel Phillips, Caitlin and Luke Odom, Kelsey and Kenzie Phillips. Her in-laws included: Linda and Ed Gomez and family, Jill and Peter Corr and family, Jack and Carol Ziegler and family. Others include countless friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her infant son Luke Thomas ( 9, 1988) and parents Robert (1986) and Dorothy Phillips (1989). Obituary: Walter “Walt” Ziegele, 90, of Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully on , 13, 2017, surrounded by his wife and family. Walt lived 89 full years of his life in Peoria, until he and his wife moved to Texas in of 2015. Walt was married for 67 years to his beloved Elisabeth “Beth” Ziegele. He was a loving and devoted husband, father of four children, grandfather of three, and great-grandfather of one. His sharp wit, quick smile, and quiet charm welcomed all he met. Walt was born in Peoria, Illinois on 22, 1926 to Herman and Lena Ziegele. He attended Central High School, graduating in 1944. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy in the Pacific Fleet. Upon his return, he obtained a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in 1950. Walt worked over 40 years at the family business, Peoria Concrete Construction , retiring as Vice President for Production. He was a member of University United Methodist Church for over 65 years, and gave countless hours of his time in leadership and volunteer positions at the church. Among his many other community service activities, he served as a Boy Scout leader, was the founding president of the Richwoods High School Parent/Teacher/Student organization, and served as an officer in the Peoria chapter of SHARE Food Program. Despite his busy work and volunteer schedule, his first priority was spending time with and caring for his family, friends, neighbors, and church community. Walt’s place in heaven will be full of socializing, mowing yards, telling stories, and taking care of those who need a handyman or to borrow a tool. Laughter and love are guaranteed for all in heaven. Walt is survived by his wife, Elisabeth (Robley) Ziegele of Irving, Texas and children Kathleen Ziegele Burton of Downers Grove, Illinois; David (Louise Maillett) Ziegele of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Terri (Doug) Bachtel of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Jayne (Mike Baker) Metz-Baker of Irving, Texas. Walt is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody Metz of Poth, Texas; Anna Bachtel of Kansas City, Missouri; Alison (Chris) Russell of Prairie Village, Kansas; and his great-grandson Clark Russell. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Doris Schoch Bachman, Kay (Carl) Fischer and Esther Ziegele, his brother-in-law, Vern Woosley, and many nieces, nephews, and caring friends. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lena Ziegele, and his brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Audrey Ziegele. The Ziegele family would like to thank everyone at MacArthur Hills Retirement Community and their loving and dedicated staff in Memory , as well as the compassionate Envoy and Staff Hospice team. Services will be held on , 25 at J. E. Faust & Son located at 523 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. Visitation will commence at 3:00 pm and services at 4:00 pm. Obituary: Alvin F. "Zig" Ziegelbauer passed away evening, 6, 2015, after a long, successful and valiant fight to live a good life in spite of cancer. He would have been 86 years young on his next birthday. : 2 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3713 E. Harwood Road, Bedford. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and provider for a family of six children and an icon to many. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and was a Korean War veteran having served one year in 1952 and another 13 months there 10 years later. He took the family to Japan for 3 1/2 years, always traveling and seeing many unforgettable sights. The children seldom stayed at home. Alvin retired from the Air Force in 1968 and settled his family in Bedford where the rest of the story is history. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Ziegelbauer; son, Craig Ziegelbauer; his parents; and three siblings. Survivors: Daughter, Karen Prigmore (Chuck); sons, Curt Ziegelbauer (Kathy), Danny Ziegelbauer (Rebeca), David Ziegelbauer (Michelle), and Chris Zeigelbauer; much loved sister, Carol Lewis of Green Bay, Wis. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. |
