Obituary: Mary Catherine Zang, 83, went peacefully home to the Lord on morning, 25, 2015, following a short battle with cancer. A gentle yet spirited woman who tended to family, friends, and all furry and winged creatures of nature, Mary spent her entire life in service to others. Born in Columbus, Ohio on 2, 1931, Mary attended Saint Marys of the Springs and The Ohio State University and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the University of Rennes in France. Preceded in death by her parents, Francis X. and Margaret C. Zang and her dear friend Eileen Mitchell, Mary is survived by her brother Frank Zang, sisters Margaret Kozelek and Agatha Gary and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. graduating from college, Mary taught French at Saint Marys of the Springs in Columbus, Ohio, followed by 30 years of teaching at San Antonio , her adopted hometown where she built a custom home and became a bona fide Texan. Many family members visited her there over the years and her door was always open to the abundance of neighbors who counted Mary as a loyal friend. Thankfully Mary was able to remain in her home, with family and friends at her side, until the end. Marys activities included Act II, Literary Ladies, Consolation Ministry and Bible Study Group at Saint Matthews Church. Mary was affiliated with the Dominicans. She was a lifelong Catholic, a compassionate Christian who loved so many and judged so few. She will be missed terribly. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Marys health care givers and vigilant neighbors and close friends for all of their unwavering support throughout Marys illness and especially in her final days. The family will receive friends at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road on , 29th beginning at 9:00 AM, recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 AM and Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10:30 AM. Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, 17501 Nacogdoches. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the San Antonio Humane Society, the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, or a charity of personal choice. |

Obituary: Paul Henry Zanetti, MD of Corpus Christi, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on 11, 2016 at the age of 76. Dr. Zanetti was born on 14, 1940 in Detroit, MI to proud parents, Angelo and Elvera Zanetti. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1961 and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1965. He completed a neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Science and moved to Corpus Christi in 1972 to begin what would be over 40 years in the private practice of neurosurgery. He was a board certified member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, a Fellow of the American of Surgeons, and a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Nueces Medical Society. Dr. Zanettis very creative and innovative mind spurred his medical research resulting in a patented technique and a patented device which both helped advance the field of neurosurgery and are still in use today. Upon retirement, he continued his involvement in medicine through research, case review, consulting and charity care. Dr. Zanetti was an active parishioner, Eucharistic Minister and member of the Mens Club at St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was instrumental in the formation of the Journey to Damascus and was also involved with the Walk to Emmaus. Dr. Zanetti also served on the Board of Timons Ministries. He loved starting his day with the newspaper cartoons, kayaking, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. His children grew up watching Looney Toons cartoons and MASH with him - and driving down the beach in an orange VW Thing popping jellyfish. Dr. Zanetti, known as Doc to his grandchildren, is preceded in death by his father Angelo Zanetti and grandson John Michael Bartolotta. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Carole, his mother, centurion Elvera Zanetti of Corpus Christi, TX; his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Michael Bartolotta of Houston, TX, and grandchildren, Grace and Matthew Bartolotta; his daughter, Dr. Lisa Rhodes of Austin, TX and grandchildren, Addison and Caden Rhodes; and his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Ginger Zanetti of Austin, TX. A Rosary will be recited at Seaside Chapel on , 13, 2016 at 7pm. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church on , 14, 2016 at 10:30 am. He worked in the oil field prior to working for the City of Abilenes water treatment department for 13 years. Les loved to paint and draw, go hunting and fishing, ride horses, cooking, and he enjoyed music. He especially loved being with his family. Preceding him in death were his father, Billy Steve Van Zandt; and one niece, Misty Van Zandt. Obituary: David Patrick Van Zandt, 29, of Missouri City, TX, died 9, 2011, as he lost his battle with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. David was born May 17, 1981 in Houston, TX, the oldest son of Scott and Patti. David graduated from Lawrence E. Elkins High School and went on to attend Texas A&M University where he earned a bachelors degree in Journalism along with a masters degree in student affairs. While in Aggieland, David was actively involved with MSC Hospitality as well as AOLP. Davids greatest passion in life was serving his Savior Jesus Christ. David served people well with his best friends through Houstons First Baptist Church. It was through this that David experienced his greatest joys in life. David is survived by his grandfather Kenneth Van Zandt; parents Scott and Patti; brother Matthew; and sisters Julie and Robin. Also, he is survived by his aunts and uncles Doug OKeefe, Nancy OKeefe, Dennis OKeefe, Judy Drexel, Terry OKeefe, and Robert OKeefe as well as their spouses; numerous cousins who meant so much to him. She was a homemaker and member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Throughout her life, she loved giving her time to help all of her family and others. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, sewing and making dolls and sock monkeys, as well as working in the garden. Obituary: Roy Gene Zander, II, 54, of Riesel, passed away , 25, 2014 in Georgia. services will be 3:00 PM, , 1, 2014 at Perry Methodist Church with the Reverend Ron Oden officiating. Interment will follow in Perry . The family will receive friends from 6:00 \ 8:30 PM on , 31st at Adams in Marlin. Mr. Zander was born on 18, 1959 in Panama City, Florida to Roy and DeAnna (Davis) Zander. He married Tamara Oates on 19, 1994 in Niagara Falls and they celebrated over 20 wonderful years together. Mr. Zander worked for Latex Construction the past 7 years; he was a member of Pipeline Local Union 798 and has been in the pipeline business for 40 years. He loved to fish, collect tools, work, fabrication and building things. Mr. Zander was an animal lover and took great joy in his children and young grandchildren. He was a member of Rocky Hill Missionary Baptist church and loved to study his Bible. His son Roy Gene Zander III preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; Tamara Zander of Riesel, parents; Roy and DeAnna Zander of Riesel, son; Aubrey Zander of Riesel, daughters; Amy Zander of Harrisonville, Missouri and Ariel Blanco and her husband, Aaron of Harvey, Louisiana, step son; Zac Baptist of Huntington, Texas, sisters; Audrey Zander Mudge and her husband, Dickey of Belle Chasse, Louisiana and Lisa Zander Becnel and her husband, David of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, grandchildren; Aubrey E. Zander of Algiers, Louisiana, Zailyn Baptist of Riesel and Cree Baptist of Riesel and several nieces and nephews in Texas and Louisiana.
