Obituary: Martha C. Zabel, 93, Bettendorf, passed away , 20, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 25, 2016 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park . Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Martha was born on 17, 1922 in Joy, IL, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Ramsey) Lightner. She was united in marriage to Lester Zabel 13, 1946 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death in 1992. Her greatest joy was her family. She had pictures and treasures placed all over her house that were given to her by family and friends. She loved playing games, doing crafts, sewing, traveling to California and Michigan, attending any special event that her family was involved in. She was the best Mom, Mother-in-law and Gramma ever! Martha is survived by her children, Lew (Cathy) Zabel, Bettendorf, Ken (Leesa) Zabel, Simi Valley, CA, Rhonda (Bob) Malito, Davenport, Ted (Diane) Zabel, Bettendorf; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and brother, Gene Lightner, Panarama Park. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Bell Hopkins and Frances Riepe. |

Obituary: Arlyss G. Zabel, 88, of rural Davenport passed away , 29, 2010 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House Bettendorf, IA. services will be 11:30AM at the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park . Visitation is 4-7Pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Arlyss was born 8, 1922 on the family farm in rural Scott to Grover & Norma (Kroeger) Zabel. He was united in marriage to Vernona Heuer on 19, 1949 in Davenport, IA. Arlyss was born, raised, and worked his entire life on the family farm having helped with this years harvest. He was a member of the Knights of Phythias, the Farm Bureau, the Davenport Moose Club, and several card clubs. Arlyss had a strong love for his family and they will miss him deeply. Survivors include his wife Vernona Zabel, Davenport; son Myron (Cindy) Zabel, Eldridge, IA; 2 daughters Janice (Jeff) Lambrecht, Silvis, IL, and Joyce (John) Kemp, Eldridge, IA; and 4 grandsons Daniel & Steven Kemp, Bryan & Loren Zabel. Arlyss was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. |
