Obituary: Margaret L. Peg Ziperman, 102, of Indianapolis, died on 29, 2017. Peg was born on 12, 1915 in Clarksburg, WV to Dr. and Mrs. Thomas G. and Oleta Jane Robinson LeMasters. Reflecting upon 102 years of life, her most cherished memories were her marriage to and life with her beloved husband, H. Haskell ip Ziperman, MD, and their cherished son, Don B. Ziperman, MD, who has practiced Cardiology here in Indianapolis for the past 35 years. Peg received her bachelors degree at American University in Washington, D.C. That same autumn, she began her first graduate work in English Literature at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. It was in Indianapolis where she met her future husband, Zip, who received his M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine. As the U.S. answered the call to participate in World War II, Zip served in the Army Air Corps. the war, he completed his residency in surgery. Their son, Don, was born in 1949. Zip re-entered the military to serve his country in the Korean War after which he decided to remain and serve in the Army Medical Corps. In peacetime, Peg and Zip chose to remain in the Army and enjoyed living in many locations and traveling the world over: Japan, Germany, Panama. While they loved their lives and travels, and experienced what the world had to offer with their son, Don, they would eventually retire to a quiet but active life in San Antonio, TX. Peg spent much of her retirement as a volunteer librarian at the McNay Art Museum Library, putting to use her second graduate degree in Library and Information Sciences from Our Lady of the Lake University. She was a member of the Friends of the McNay, an associate at Trinity University, a member of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Chamber of Music Society, and a member of the Alamo City Theatre Board of Volunteers. In 1984, she was recognized with the first Golden Rule merit award for culture from J.C. Penneys department store. Zip and Peg continued to travel far into retirement, mostly in the eastern Mediterranean and to Mexican archaeological areas. To celebrate her 80th birthday, Peg took herself on a lengthy, eye-opening holiday to New Zealand, Tasmania and Australia. In 1987, Zip succumbed to cancer. While devastated by the loss of her beloved and adored husband, Peg remained in San Antonio, in their home, keeping exceptionally busy with her volunteer work, travels, and host of close, loving friends. In 2002, with family so far away, Peg chose to remove herself to Indianapolis. There she fostered deeper and more meaningful relationships with her son, her special and loved daughter-in law, Cindy, and her two exceptional granddaughters, Lisa and Karen, and could enjoy her two great grandsons, William and Sean. A visitation will be held at Flanner and Buchanan - Geist, 7855 Cork Rd, Indianapolis on , 5 from 4 to 8 PM. Peg will be buried in San Antonio, TX at Sunset Memorial Park. A memorial service will be offered by Westminster Village North on a date to be determined in to commemorate Pegs remarkable life.
