Obituary: Beatrice Zaharako, 95, of Columbus, died at 3:30 a.m. , 6, 2015 at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born in Columbus, 13, 1919, the daughter of Luke and Margaret Swank Taylor. She married George Zaharako May 15, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC. He preceded her in death 16, 2000. She was a retired licensed practical nurse. Bea was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was one of the first volunteers with Hospice, beginning in 1982. She was the 1997 Republics Woman of the Year. Most of all, Bea became the woman she was because of her experience as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and compassionate volunteer in various settings. She truly cared and enjoyed helping others by feeding a friend suffering from Alzheimers Disease, sitting with another friend suffering from a terminal disease and driving homebound neighbors to and from church and on errands. She is survived by daughters, Betsy Panayides of Bath, Maine and Linda (Gary) Hallum of Columbus; sons, Joe (Sue) Zaharako of Carmel, IN and John (Kim) Zaharako of Amity, IN; brother, Dean Taylor of Columbus; grandchildren, Ryan, Laura, Susan and Sarah Zaharako, Jason Crimmins, Kelly Sharpe, Katie, Mark, Tina, Matt and Andy Panayides; 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother, Virgil Taylor. services will be held at 11 a.m. , at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Calling will be from 4 to7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to service time . Burial will follow in Garland Brook . Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Love a Child Preschool Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church. |
