Obituary: The first set of twins was born in Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Nazir Yusafs family in Pakistan. One of the twins name was given from the New Testament after apostle Paul while the other got his name from the Old Testament. Paul was born in Pakistan and went to a Christian School and later to the college for his two bachelors degrees : in Arts and Education. During most of the professional years of his life in Pakistan, he assisted in managing and teaching his family-owned school . God had a plan for Paul to have another educationist is his life as his spirit-mate - Esther! Paul and Esther were married in May of 1994 in Pakistan. Esther joined Paul to live in America after their marriage and Lord blessed them with two beautiful daughters - Ruth and Merab. Paul and Esther laid the foundation of a Christian home. had been doing their very best to live-out the live-in Christ among the family and friends. Paul worked for retailing industry for most of his years of service in America. His work at Cash and Carry during past many years is worth noting where he share the love of Christ among his co-workers and customers. Soon it developed into a reciprocal relationship and built a family-kind-of setting. Some of the true stories of this unique business relationship came to know when his customers and co-workers visited him in the hospital when few months ago, Paul was diagnosed of Cancer in his brain. The personal experiences shared by customers and co-workers about the outpouring of Christian love of Paul among his co-workers and customers is a testimony of Pauls depth and living approach of his Christian Faith. He understood that God has a plan and purpose for his children in the temporal world to glorify Him in and through their lives. Paul, indeed, carried on the this legacy of Jesus Christ which was dedicatedly followed by his forefathers. We thank God for his life here in this world and pray that God may continually be glorified through his entire family. |

Obituary: Carol Rose Yurkas Carol Rose (Brown) Yurkas, wife, mother and friend to all, passed peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer. Carol was born 7,1941 to Violet and Walter Brown in Aberdeen. She began her life on the family farm in Hoquiam. The oldest of seven she grew up in a loving family of modest means. She learned from an early age to be frugal and resourceful. She was very much the second mother to her siblings as both her parents had to work and she was put in charge of the child care. She married her husband, Gary E. Yurkas on 17, 1963 in Aurora, CO. He was the love of her life, her soul mate as she often told others. Carol proceeded to bring three children into the world: Gary, LeAnn, and Paula. She raised them to be good moral Christians, as she was a devout Catholic and very firm in her beliefs. She is survived by her husband; three children; six brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren; and countless other family members. She will forever be missed, as she touched the lives of all that she met. A funeral mass will be held for Carol at 12:00 pm on 14, 2010 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Olympia. Internment will follow at Calvary Catholic in Tumwater. |

Obituary: Dr. Ralph Algerdas Yuodelis, D.D.S., M.S.D., Professor Emeritus. Born in St Albert Trail, Alberta, Canada, Ralph was the 3rd child of Vincas and Teresa (Sapokas) Yuodelis who had emigrated from Lithuania a few years earlier. Life during the great depression was hard but Ralph and his siblings Aldona and Bill thrived due to the strong work ethic and loving attention of their parents. Ralph later graduated with his D.D.S. from the University of Alberta School of Dentistry in 1955, began a practice in Edmonton and soon met Elizabeth Anne Lysne Nan to whom he was married for 57 years. Ralph and Nan have 5 children (Christine, Robert, Terri, Joan and Gayle), 14 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. The family moved to Seattle so that Ralph could begin dental postgraduate training at the University of Washington. On completion of the specialty programs in Periodontics and Prosthodontics, he was recruited to a faculty position. Progressing through the academic ranks to a full professorship, he created a very well respected specialty program in Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. Ralph A. Yuodelis directed the UW dental school graduate program in Fixed Prosthodontics and combined Graduate Prosthodontics program for more than a quarter-century. He was Professor Emeritus of Restorative Dentistry and Adjunct Professor of Periodontics at the UW, where he received his M.S.D.. and Certificate in Fixed Prosthodontics in 1964 and Certificate in Periodontics in 1965. During his career, he received many accolades for his achievements - President of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Fellow of the American of Dentists and Fellow of the International of Dentists, among others. In 2001, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics bestowed on him the George H. Moulton Achievement Award in 2001 for his distinguished lifetime contributions. He gave hundreds of graduate presentations around the world, co-authored two major dental textbooks, and was chosen as UW School of Dentistry's Distinguished Alumnus in 2002. The University of Alberta, where he earned his DDS, honored him with its Dental Alumni Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 1998. The legacy of this great teacher is felt by thousands of clinicians throughout professional dentistry. Over the past 50 years his program attracted many prestigious graduate students from all corners of the world. His students continue demonstrating the quality of education at the UW and carrying on his teachings to others. The UW School of Dentistry gained international acclaim for its "marriage" of the graduate programs in Periodontics and Prosthodontics and is in large part a tribute to his training in and mastery of the 2 disciplines. Ralph has definitely left a strong positive mark on advancing the quality of dental care world-wide. retiring in 2005, Ralph continued on as Professor Emeritus, dedicating some of his time to training new generations of grad students (the other Yuodelis kids). Ralph also enjoyed his retirement with fishing, golf, and opera. Ralph is survived by his wife Nan, children and grandchildren, brother Bill, sister Donna and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St John Vianney Church in Kirkland on Aug 23rd at 11 am. A web site at Acacia Memorial Gardens is available for tribute to his memory.
