Obituary: Martha "Lena" York passed away on 15, 2015 in Olympia, Washington as the result of a fall injury. Her children and two grandchildren were with her, extending their love and graditude as she went to be with the Lord. She was the daughter of Everett and Ila Alford, and was born May 12, 1926 in Niangua, Missouri, she was 89 years old at the time of her passing. Martha grew-up living and working on a small farm and attended the local schools in Niangua. During WWII she worked at the Wichita, Kansas Boeing facility as a riviter. At that same time she met her future husband, Nelson, who was serving his country as a US Marine. In 1950, Martha, her husband, and children relocated to Cosmopolis, Washington. Besides being a homemaker she was employed at Grays Harbor Veneer and worked in a variety of positions. She retired in 1991 with 38 years of service. She was an active member of the First Baptist church in Hoquiam serving on the Deacons Board, and regularly attended morning and evening bible study. She is fondly remembered for her cheerful attitude, and for the food she made and shared with her many friends. Martha had many interests, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She had an interest in crafts and was skilled at chorcheting and ceramics. She often gave away most of her creations. She loved baking and was a major contributor for social events at her church. She traveled extensively with her husband and grandchild in their motorhomes, loved playing golf and meeting new people. She was non-judgemental, caring, loving, and friendly to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her survivors include: Brother - Dale Alford of Springfield, Missouri; Children - Jerry York of Aberdeen, Bev Tafoya of Olympia, and Cal (Marie) York of Walla Walla; Daughter-in-law - Jill York of Kennewick; Grandchildren - Marc Tafoya, Brian York, Ashley York, and Michaela York, and a Great-granddaughter - Morgan Tafoya. She was preceded in death by her husband - Nelson, and sons Denny and Allan York. Nelson and Martha had been married 64 years at the time of his death in 2011. The family would like to extend a special "Thank-you" to the following people for their love and support: Dr. Philip Gibbs and staff of Aberdeen, Dr. Jennifer Playstead of Olympia, Mother Joseph Rehab and RN Laura of Olympia, Garett Folkers and staff at Edward Jones of Aberdeen, and finally (and especially) to Pastor Adair Krack and her church family at First Baptist Church of Hoquiam. A celebration of life will be held for Martha at 11 AM, , 5 at the First Baptist Church, 729 Eklund Avenue, Hoquiam, Washington. A reception will follow at the church. Obituary: Joseph O. York, 89, of West Seattle passed away on 11/30/2015. He was born in Seattle on 7/8/1926. Joe graduated from Tenino High School. He was married to Helen York on 4/5/1952. Joe worked as a bread driver for Gai’s Bakery for 33 years. He had a passion for life, family, friends, and golf. He is survived by his wife Helen York; children Vicki (Bill Polk), Mike, and Brian (Nancy) York; grandchildren Alex, Maxwell, Jessica, and Hunter York; great grandson Aidan York. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on 12/5/2015 at West Seattle Christian Church.
