Obituary: Helen Caras Young, 85, of Spanish Fork peacefully passed away at her home on 2, 2008. She was born on 6, 1923 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Angel and Mary Sorenson Caras. She attended schools in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. Helen married her sweetheart, Curtis Eugene Young, on 19, 1946 in Benjamin, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on 27, 1956. She was a devoted wife and mother and was an excellent homemaker. She loved music, cooking, and scrapbooking. Helen appreciated the beauties of nature and loved to be with her family. She was always willing to help others, giving Christ-like service wherever she went. Helen served as the President of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a baker and worked for Wills Foodland, Childs Bakery, and for the School Lunch Program. She also worked at MacAnthonys. She was a devoted member of the L.D.S. Church and served in various positions and church capacities such as: Choir director in School, Sacrament Meeting, Primary, and Relief Society; Primary Organist; Primary and School teacher; and has served as a visiting teacher for many years serving as a companion with her daughter, Karren. Helen sang with the Choralettes and the Relief Society Singing Mothers. She gave endlessly throughout her life. She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Larry Young, Manti, UT; Fred Young, Boardman, OR; Garry Young, Benjamin, UT; and Karren Young, Benjamin, UT; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two brothers and two sisters, Andrew Caras, Benjamin, UT; Marion Wilson, Payson, UT; Elaine Sumsion, Springville, UT; and Jim Caras, Benjamin, UT. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Eugene Young; siblings, Earnest Caras; Sophia Buckmiller, Anna Mae Steiner; Evelyn Beagley; and Franklin Caras; a great grandson, Steven Young; brother-in-law, Ray Young; sister-in-law, Stella Ruth Cloward; and her parents, Angel and Mary Caras. services will be held on , 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lake Shore Ward Chapel, 5912 South 3200 West, Lake Shore, UT. Family and friends may call evening, 6, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, or on morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Obituary: Sarah Helen Burgess Young Aug 14, 1928 - Jun 03, 2014 Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Sarah Helen Burgess Young, passed away , 3, 2014. She was a devoted mother and grandmother; resulting in our close, loving family. Helen was the second of five children born to Lambert Robinson Burgess and Jessie Mae Purser, on 14, 1928, in Hyde Park, Utah. She graduated from Rigby High School in 1946. She married Henry Dale Young of Boise, Idaho, on 17, 1947, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Helen was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings in the Relief Society. She worked as a legal secretary for Wendall R. Jones. Helen would say she was a jack of all trades, master of none but her children would disagree. She baked and decorated all of her childrens wedding cakes, knitted sweaters, booties and blankets for children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many friends. She also enjoyed tole painting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and playing pinochle and other card games with her family. She especially enjoyed playing Canasta with her friends at Hunter Villas. Helen loved watching bull riding on television and attending as many rodeos as she could. She could beat anyone at Jeopardy and loved completing crossword puzzles from the newspaper each day. Helen is survived by her children, Steven Dale Young (Patricia), Mark Burgess Young, David Lynn Young (Jody), and Susan Tucker (Michael); 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Oswald (Lloyd) of West Valley City, Utah; and brother, Robert Glade Burgess (Linda) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents; brother, Lambert Doyle Burgess; sister, Barbara Mae Cheshire; and grandson, Cody Ryan Young. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Source and Hospice for their tender care. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. |
