Obituary: Owen Young, 82, retired carpenter, died , 4, 2016, at his residence on Mt. Lebanon Church Road in Shelbyville. services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Paul Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Scribners Mill . The family will visit with friends from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury native was the son of the late James Scott Young and the late Betty Ann Pilkinton Young. Mr. Young was self-employed doing what was his passion, carpentry. He also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Mary Spears Young of Shelbyville; daughter, Diane (Jerry) Flowers of Giles ; sons, Randall (Jean) Young of Lewisburg and Scott (Vickie) Young of Franklin; grandchildren, Stephanie (Michael) Thomason, Brian (Morgan) Flowers, Brandon (Marie) Flowers, Nikki (John) Allbert, Jason (Kandi) Young, Jennifer (Ryan) Dishman, Cynthia (Travis) Bruens, Chris (Stacey) Booker; nineteen great grandchildren; brother, Otis Odell Young; sister, Christine (John T. Bud) Haskin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ann Smith Young who died 28, 2006; sisters, Louise Waldon and Ora Mae Holder; and brother, James Walter Young. |
