Obituary: View Webcast Carolyn Jeanette Beyke Yarber, 74, retired employee of General Electric, died , 21, 2016 at her residence in Columbia. services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar and Rev. John Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols and from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M at the church. The family suggests memorials to Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, 2712 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born 15, 1941, near St. Joseph in Lawrence , Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John C. Beyke and the late Ola Collier Beyke. later moved to Ramah, named after an ancient city in Israel cited in both Testaments of the Bible that Carolyn read, and steadfastly sought to follow, throughout a life that ended at her home in Columbia. Carolyn attended schools in Ramah, Five Points, and Loretto. She also was a student in Peoria, Illinois for nearly three years while her father worked at the Caterpillar plant there. She was a 1960 graduate of Loretto High School. marrying Edward Lee Yarber fifty -six years ago on 19,1960, she spent the remainder of her life living and working in Maury and Lawrence Counties, including twenty-plus years at the now-closed General Electric Plant in Columbia. She enjoyed flower gardening and caring for her granddaughter and great granddaughters. She was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, where she was active in the Joy School Class and Young at Heart. being diagnosed with cancer in late 2015, Carolyn was surrounded by loving friends and relatives that include her husband, Edward Lee Yarber; sister and only sibling, Patricia (Lee) Cary of Little Elm, Texas; daughter, Sheila Yarber Weiker of Columbia; granddaughter, Madison (Kyle) Anson of Culleoka; great granddaughters, Bethany Carolyn Anson and Adalynn Lou Anson, both of Culleoka; sisters-in-law, Janice (Thomas) Sewell of Leoma and Sue (Richard) Grubbs of Lawrenceburg; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Mike Chandler, Jeff Crane, Ken Schrimi, Don Young, L. M. Coffey, David Boshers, Dan Shires, and Billy Black. Honorary pallbearers will include former employee of General Electric, members of Joy School Class, and Young at Heart Friends of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Carolyns family is very grateful for the love and care she received from nurse and longtime family friend, Tanya McCormack, during her final days. |
