Obituary: Billy Ray Yutzie was born on 30, 1948 in Albany, OR to William F and Hazel M Yutzie. He grew up in Albany with his 7 older, and 1 younger siblings, where he attended Sunrise Elementary, Calapooia Middle School, and West Albany High School. Upon his graduating high school in 1966, Bill was drafted into the US Army where he served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. While overseas, Bill served honorably as a Door Gunner, receiving accommodations for his service and participation in military actions. He left the Army with an Honorable Discharge as Sergeant. Bill was proud of his service to his country, marked by his years of support and involvement with the American Legion Post 10 and VFW Post 584. Veterans Affairs were demonstrated with his ever-present fleet of delivery trucks in Albanys annual Veterans Day Parade. Upon his return from the service, Bill came home to Albany and shortly thereafter, one of his many life milestones occurred, the birth of daughter, Jill, who was the apple of her daddys eye. Shortly after, Bill attended floral design school and another joyful event in his life, the birth of his son Tyler. He purchased Gilmore Florist, where he had worked while in High School in 1974 and named it Bills Flower Tree. His brother Steve partnered with him shortly thereafter and enjoyed many successful years together in downtown Albany. During his 40 plus years of designing memorable, beautiful floral creations for his loyal customers, both far and wide, Bill earned a reputation as a downtown Albany Icon. His regular involvement with non-profit organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce and Albanys Downtown Association as well as many donations to Community events. These were just some of the ways Bill gave back to the community he loved. Bills dedication to his beloved business was not the end of his loves and passions. Bill loved snowboarding, water skiing, singing Karaoke, and just being on what he considered the Billamette river. He taught many a young person in the community how to water ski. It wasn just a chance meeting, some would say it was destiny, for after many years apart, Bill reconnected with a long-time friend, Linda Hopkins with whom he graduated with and the sparks flew. Bill and Linda quickly became inseparable, and on 2, 2000, another life milestone took place, soulmates Bill and Linda, married in Reno, NV. Their unconditional love for one another continued to blossom as they spent 23 years as best friends, taking several trips together and embarking on countless adventures. recently returned from an enjoyable trip to Arizona and intended to become snowbirds next year. Bill loved his family, above all, and he never met a stranger, as you would quickly become his friend, and once a friend, you were a friend for life. Bills legacy of love and laughter will endure for years to come, as he is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter Jill Brown and son-in-law Jeremy Brown of Amboy, WA; son Tyler Yutzie and daughter-in-law Regina Yutzie of Roseburg, OR; step-son Mike McKenzie of Portland, OR. Bill is also survived by 5 grandsons, Tysen Hewitt of Vancouver, son of Jill Brown; Levi, Luke, Parker and Wyatt Yutzie of Roseburg, OR, sons of Tyler and Regina Yutzie, whom will proudly carry on the Yutzie name. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara Wells of Kennewick, Washington, Glenn Yutzie of Aumsville, Oregon, and Ardys Bash, Elda Owen, and Steve Yutzie of Albany as well as many nieces and nephews.
