Obituary: Christine Harris Chrissy Young, 44, of Hickory, departed this life to her heavenly home on 4, 2015 at Carolinas Medical in Charlotte following a period of declining health. Chrissy was born on 1, 1971 to Benjamin Stephen Harris and the late Wanda Abernathy Holland. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University, and also obtained her National Board Certification. She was a 7th grade Math and Science teacher, currently employed by Hickory City Schools at Northview Middle School. She had worked for 10 years previously with Burke Public Schools at Heritage Middle School and East Burke Middle School. Chrissy was a member and a leader of the Girl Scouts of America for over 25 years, and taught Future Engineers Camp for ASU at the NC for Engineering Technologies. She was an active member at East Valdese Baptist Church, serving as a School teacher and a Mission Friends leader. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a brother, Josh Holland. Survivors include her husband, Albert L. JR Young, Jr. of the home; her children, Camden Young, Farrah Young and Brady Young, all of the home; her father, Benny Harris and wife Renee of Lenoir ; and father, Bill Poncho Holland of Valdese; her siblings, Stephanie Holland, Monte Harris, Tonya Bailey, and Michelle Brown; her father-in-law, Albert L. Young, Sr. and wife Christine; her mother-in-law, Bonnie Young; a sister-in-law, Dawn Lail; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 AM 12, 2015 at East Valdese Baptist Church, with Rev. Brett Howell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Heritage Service in Valdese where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Memorial contributions may be made to Forward in Faith Campaign at East Valdese Baptist Church, P.O. Box 56, Valdese, NC 28690.
