Obituary: Ruth S. Yerton Shreveport, LA Ruth S. Yerton was born May 25, 1928 in Opal, AR. Her parents were Effie Mae and Albert Standridge. She went to be with her Lord 18, 2015 in Shreveport. Mrs. Yerton was a well traveled military wife that maintained a home for her husband and children. She worked at AT&T for more than 20 years. Mrs. Yerton is preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; a son, Jerry Yerton; a grandson, Jeremy Yerton; a great-grandson, Nicholas Hugh Conwell, and two brothers, Edward and Charles Standridge. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Forsythe and husband Gordon and Martha Clary and husband Mike; a son, David G. Yerton and wife Denise; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Langston; and other relatives and friends. Obituary: A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Alco, Billie passed away morning Oct. 30, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born to Leon and Elizabeth Campbell on Oct. 31, 1926, she was 84 years, 364 days old. Prior to Baton Rouge, she was a resident of Alexandria and Tickfaw. She was a dedicated employee of Wal-Mart Inc. for the past 16 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, G.W. McClendon and Paul Yersavich; a sister, Mildred Maxwell; and a brother, Austin Campbell. She is survived by her beloved pet, Lizzy; her children, Harry Bernard, Penny Dreher, Patsy Butler, Mack McClendon and his wife, Mary Anne, and Ruth Bergeron and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Britt Bernard, Bridget Lamb, Brian Bernard, Barry Spillman, Cathy Spillman, Mac Spillman, Preston Butler, Shane Butler, Katie McClendon, Larry Bergeron Jr., Renae Blaze and Richie Bergeron; along with 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great- grandchildren; special friends Betty Dawson, Azalie Williams, and John Walker; along with other relatives and close friends. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kelly and Marvin Thompson, Kristy and Shannon Ramsey, Brian and Haley Stirling, Lauren Stirling, Brett Stirling, Laura and Jack Hayles, Jamie and Dan LeBrun, Olivia Armstrong, Kyle Yoches, Katie Yoches as well as eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Lyman and Margaret Rhodes, sister Joyce Cupit, first husband Robert Stirling, Sr, son Robert Stirling, Jr. and son-in-law J. Veto Yoches. Dot was an Operations Manager at the DOTD with over 30 years of service. She was one of the founding members of OLOLRMC Ladies Auxiliary and served as President for several terms. She was very active with the Woodlawn Estates Neighborhood Association. Dot and Fletcher traveled many years with the Friendship Force of Baton Rouge making numerous friends all over the world. When they weren't traveling with the Friendship Force they were exploring the U.S. in their RV. Obituary: David Menge Yeomans passed away on , 10, 2015. He was 33 years old. Beloved son of David W. and Catherine “Kitty” Menge Yeomans. Loving brother of Lorraine “Rainy” Yeomans Faust (William Bryant Faust IV) and Phoebe Yeomans Robinson (Danny Joseph Robinson). Cherished uncle of Catherine Elizabeth Faust, Wesley Bennett Faust, Kaitlyn Grace Robinson, and Megan Elaine Robinson. He is also survived by many members of the Von Lubbe, Menge, Yeomans, and Eastman families. David was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and served his country honorably in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He began his career with the Jefferson Parish Fire Department in 2005, where he rose to the rank of Operator, and served on the department’s Honor Guard. He was elected by his brothers and sisters to the Board of Trustees for the Jefferson Firefighters Association Local 1374. He was a lifetime member of the Deutsches Haus. Obituary: Mrs. Doris Oustalet Yent, age 90, a native of New Orleans died peacefully on 9, 2015. Wife of 61 years to James B. Yent, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents M. A. Oustalet and Josephine Dauth Oustalet, and her brother, A.J.M. “Bubba” Oustalet. She was educated at St. Rose de Lima School, St. Joseph Academy, Loyola University, and graduated with a BA in History, and several teaching credentials from CA State Univ., Northridge. Mrs. Yent was an elementary school teacher at Holy Rosary for several years, later for Orleans Parish School System. Due to her husband’s job relocation to California, Mrs. Yent taught 14 years in both the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and later in the L.A. School system for high-risk and mentally handicapped students. She retired from teaching in 1983, returning to Metairie in 1994 with her husband. During her lifetime she was a volunteer as a Nurses Aid during World War II, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, participated in Women’s Aglow. She enjoyed providing spiritual companionship to residents in various nursing homes in the Metairie area for several years. She is survived by her sisters: Jeannette O. Enderle of Houston, TX and Penny O. Pierce of Austin, TX. Mother of Jo-Ellen Y. Wilder, Charlotte, N.C., Christine Y. Zirhut, Cameron Park, CA., James B. Yent, Jr., Raleigh, N.C. and John M. Yent, Destrehan, LA. Obituary: James Claude Jim Yelvington Shreveport, LA Graveside services for Mr. Jim Yelvington, 93, will be held at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd. Shreveport, LA on , 11, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be at Centuries Memorial , 10, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Jim was born 20, 1922 in Athens, TX. He died 8, 2015 at Christus Schumpert Highland. He was a WWII Veteran and served as a radio operator-machine gunner from 1942 - 1945. He moved to Shreveport and had been a resident here for 70 years. Jim retired from Ogilvie Hardware in 1985. He attended Broadmoor Baptist Church for many years. Preceding Mr. Yelvington in death was father, James C. Yelvington; mother, Laura Hall Yelvington; wife, Rae Smith Yelvington, sister, Dorothy Petty; brother, Bill Yelvington. Left to cherish his memory are step-daughter, Sharon Bowden Lindsay and husband, Robert of Shreveport; step-granddaughters, Michelle Lindsay Sartori and husband, Chuck of Shreveport; Lisa Lindsay Whiteman and husband, Judd of Dallas, TX; step-great-granddaughters, Taylor Sartori and Julia Sartori; nephews, Fr. J.C. Jerry Yelvington III of Austin, TX and Brad Yelvington of Lexington, KY. Jims family expresses special thanks to Katherine Lawrence for her love and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Broadmoor Baptist Church Building Fund. |
