Obituary: Charles David Young, 93, of Greencastle, passed away on , 13, 2014. Dave was born on 24, 1921 in Hudsonville, Illinois to Mason Gilbert Young and Nora Ellen Parker Young. He was a graduate of Danville, Illinois High School. Dave honorably served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from A&P Grocery Stores with 34 years of service, where he was a Meat Department Manager. Dave also was employed at Alan Stanley Surveyors for 12 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Young; and two sisters, Mary Fink and Minnie Paquette. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, whom he married on 28, 1944, Julie Jacqueline LePage Young; four children, William Randy Young and wife Barbara of Greencastle, Alice Edwardsen and husband David of Frankfort, KY, Amy Ellen Shonkwiler and husband Jim of Westminster, CO, and Mary Ann Johnson and Kyle Hutchison of Greencastle; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on , 19, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Forest Hill . The family will receive friends on , 19. 2014, from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. at Hopkins-Rector . |

Obituary: CHANDLER YOUNG, 78, passed away , 26, 2017. The son of the late Arlie and Lucinda (Singleton) Young, Chandler was born May 23, 1938 in Cordia, Kentucky. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne and 9th Infantry Division. Chandler was a decorated Vietnam War veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Young; and siblings, Retha Young, Avery Young, Argus Young, Treva Everage, Kathleen Pollard, Bessie Faye Justice, and Rex Young. Chandler is survived by his daughter, Retha Young; son, Steven Young (Sandy); brothers, Nolan and Leon Young; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be 11:00 am ~ 3:00 pm at Kraft Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Service with Military Honors will be 3:00 pm in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with cremation to follow. Contributions in Chandlers memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. She had worked as a technical aide in the x-ray department at Roane General Hospital in Spencer, West Virginia. She and her husband moved to Huntington in 2005. She enjoyed shopping. Betty attended First Nazarene Church in Huntington. She was a former member of the Spencer Baptist Temple. Betty was born on 5, 1938 in Roane , West Virginia, the daughter of Ira and Grethel (Redic) Barickman. She was united in marriage to James O. Young on 5, 1958 in West Virginia. Her husband survives. Additional survivors include a daughter: Marti (Bruce) Evans of Huntington; two brothers: Roger Barickman of Cocoa Beach, FL; Robert Barickman of Florida; a sister: Rosalie Tanner of South Charleston, WV; two grandsons: Brett Evans and Drew Evans. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ira and Grethel Barickman.
